In vitro fertilisation (IVF)

Having just come to terms that any potential children will have to be conceived through IVF and not naturally, I’m also extremely anxious about the unknown future. Hoping to hear any success stories similar to our situation as a morale booster! <3

Have just come out the back of my 2nd IVF transfer which has sadly ended in a chemical pregnancy at just over 5 weeks. (Was an 8 cell grade 2) I’m devastated. So cruel to have seen that positive 3 days in a row last week and now it’s gone.

(IVF so I know my weeks.) Can’t call the helpline but does that mean a. They are worried? I had a private NIPT at 11 weeks and it was all low risk. B. They are going to do it early for scheduling reasons & this is all normal C. They’ve got the dates wrong.

I had my first cycle of IVF in April which sadly didn’t work and I got my withdrawal bleed on 1st May… So I was expecting my next ‘natural’ period by yesterday so that I could get started with mg second cycle but there was no sign of it.

My question is would you carry on trying naturally or go with IVF ? xx

I decided to put the IVF on hold until my thyroid was in a better place. In the mean time I was given leterozole, I had another private scan and was told my ovaries look polysistic but it’s nothing to worry about. I was given metformin to take.

My underlying fear is that my AMH will continue to plummet and as I wait to get moved onto IVF (the waiting time is very long) and that my chances of success are also drastically falling.

Thank you to everyone on this forum and on the TTC fertility forum, I absolutely could not have gotten through the past 3 years of relentless trying and multiple IVF cycles without all the invaluable advice and support of this community.

If you were to have extra tests done (i.e NK cell testing, which the NHS doesn't do) whilst technically under NHS funded IVF treatment (though you were on a break from that after yet another recurrant miscarriage), would that be okay? It wouldn't mean you'd potentially lose your funding?

The embryologist told me yesterday that the clinic uses ICSI by default (it’s an extra £1,350), but I can choose to have standard IVF if I wish. She said that the fertilisation rates for ICSI and IVF are broadly similar.

hello, I was wondering if anyone had tried mild IVF, what was the reason and outcome? Im 40 with low ovarian reserve, I have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss, I’m currently doing embryo batching and about to start my second round of b2b ivf rounds.

I’m 42 with low AMH OF 0.8 - long story short- I had 4 previous cycles and 5 transfers between 2019 and 2021, all BFN and thought I was done with ivf. I spent the past year plus trying to move on.

I decided to do this because (1) I'm really tired of waiting - due to a number of house relocations I'd waited 3 years to see a fertility consultant, (2) it can tell me whether I have any tubal issues for certain, and (3) otherwise I wouldn't be considered for NHS funded IVF if I need it.

Hi, I wondered if anyone could help with explaining mild IVF times with natural cycle timelines re when scans/drugs would be, I do get they vary with clinics, I'm going with ABC fertility. I do have an appointment to speak with a nurse in a week's time so they will go through it with me.

My daughter, at 48, and after a number of years of treatment and IVF is finally pregnant and yes I know this is a cause for great joy and, believe me, I am very happy about it.
