ICSI testicular cancer success?

Hi, just to introduce, I’m 34 and me and my husband will be embarking on our first ICSI cycle this month on CD21. long protocol. Husband has bilateral testicular cancer but fortunately has 20+ vials stored. Having just come to terms that any potential children will have to be conceived through IVF and not naturally, I’m also extremely anxious about the unknown future. Hoping to hear any success stories similar to our situation as a morale booster! <3

Hi first of all sorry to hear of your husbands situation, that’s enough in itself to deal with. I haven’t heard of bilateral but my husband also previously had testicular cancer and stored before he had his treatment. We started ivf with ICSI when I was 34 in 2021 I am now 35 and currently 29 weeks pregnant. This was our second round, first cycle we had 3 embryos make it to day 5, one was transferred and the other 2 frozen, unfortunately the the transferred one didn’t implant and of the 2 frozen one didn’t survive the thawing process and the other one we transferred but again didn’t implant. Our second cycle we had 2 good quality blastocysts at day 5, had one transferred which is now our growing baby and the other in the freezer. Hopefully this will give you some of the hope you are looking for. 😊

Thanks!! Congratulations to you! Was there anything different or any changes made between cycle one and cycle two to ensure the implantation success? Xx

They just upped the stimulation meds to try and get more eggs the second cycle. But as they say it’s more about quality than quantity. Good luck with everything! Xx

Hi lovely, so sorry to hear about your husband. Not exactly the same but my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017. Froze his sperm prior to chemo and we have a little boy (now 3 year old) from ICSI and after 4 failed attempts I’m now 8 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 (again ICSI). Wishing you both all the luck in the world and hope your husband makes a full recovery. Xxxx

My partner had testicular cancer 20 yrs ago so we knew we had to go the IVF route as his sperm was frozen pre chemo. As part of the IVF prep process we also discovered I had premature diminished ovarian reserve, so a low AMH. I was similar age to you when we started, we had a baby from our 2nd ICSI short protocol cycle. A year after our baby was born we started again and had twins on our 3rd cycle following a double transfer. We did short, long then short protocol, so short was again successful for us. Happy to discuss details via direct message if you’d like, I did a few things differently on the cycle we got our twins, stimulation drugs, supplements etc.

Best of luck to you!
