I had my first cycle of IVF in April which sadly didn’t work and I got my withdrawal bleed on 1st May…

So I was expecting my next ‘natural’ period by yesterday so that I could get started with mg second cycle but there was no sign of it.

This morning as I still hadn’t got my period I did a pregnancy test and to my surprise it was positive. I didn’t trust it so got my hubby to go and buy more and then did the clear blue digital test and it confirmed I was 2-3 weeks pregnant.

I’m still in utter disbelief as I’ve never had a positive pregnancy test in the three years we’ve been TTC. So I’m wondering if it has something to do with the stims I was on for my first cycle? Or whether it’s just luck or a coincidence.

I know it’s still very early days so I’m trying to stay grounded and not get carried away. I feel guilty as had been giving myself a few weeks off the strict diet so have had a few nights out drinking and last week went glamping with friends so spent a couple of hours in and out the hot tub! So now feeling petrified that I could have hurt the developing embryo… but know I can’t do anything about that now - I just totally hadn’t expected to conceive naturally.

Has anyone else ever had this after a round of ivf?

I’ve contacted my clinic and they’ve booked me in for a scan on 20th June, so now just have an anxious waiting game until then. Is it normal to do a test every week until the scan?

Appreciate any advice as always and sending baby dust to you all.

Lis xx

firstly congrats enjoy the moment and bubble as much as you possibly can. Secondly yes I had this after 3 stims cycles and two single transfers 3rd cycle we froze only ever got one embryo out of each cycle. I conceived naturally in-between waiting for the next cycle. I think we have similar issues and similar in age too. I had been trying other options for about 8 years having only been diagnosed with mild endometriosis and low ovarian reserve before finally get the adenomyosis diagnosis and a reason for the low AMH having ivf stims or the long protocol which I went on zolodex I believe helped with my miracle I was 37 and he is now 14 months old and I’m pregnant again with my second I am so grateful. If you want to talk as you go through feel free to message me. X

There is nothing in the stims that can mimic hCG and the only thing that give hCG is a placenta (or trigger shot which you haven't had....just for others reading). This is real lovely, huge congrats. Fingers crossed for your scan.xxx

hi and congratulations!!! So exciting! I had the same experience with my son - natural conception following 2.5y ttc and 2 failed ivf rounds. I was waiting for my period to show so I could have a FET and it never came ☺️ Mine was after a failed round in Dec followed by bingeing over Xmas - do what works for you and gives you reassurance - for me, it was doing hcg’sand then scans every 2 weeks until the nhs one. Good luck for your scan and hope you have asmoooth pregnancy xxx
