BREAKING NEWS. New Draft Guidelines by American Sleep Academy for RLS
There is a STRONG recommendation for IV
iron
infusions. There is a CONDITIONAL recommendation AGAINST dopamine agonists, making the point that in some cases, eg end of life care, it may be appropriate to accept the short term relief from RLS.

I can't take it, I'm feeling suicidal
I'm not made of
iron
and stone. I'm just a 13 year old put in an adult situation for the past 6 years. I don't see any reason. I'm not lingering. I'm nobody. Nobody will blink at seeing me like this. Nobody.

Ropinerole to Gabapentin
Just for background, I have a very good Neurologist who is cooperative, I am 69 years, exercise regularly, eat 99% vegetarian, low BMI, and good
iron
counts, and also not sure it is relevant but live at altitude (7600 ft.). Thank you all for your responses and for this forum.

Solving Restless Legs
The study also confirmed the MIES1 gene, which is related to dopamine expression and
iron
homeostasis, as a key genetic contributor to RLS risk. Low levels of
iron
in the blood have long been thought to trigger RLS.

Fluctuating T4?
Attaching my recent bloods (I know
iron
is still appallingly low, even after 5 months of liquid ferrous fumerate but I'm working on that and having the coil inserted next week to stop the heavy monthly periods. ) Any pointers for the appointment would also be appreciated - I want my dose increased

Bad RLS.
I asked him to check my
iron
levels. I then had my follow up appointment and he told me that my
iron
levels were normal (although another doctor told me they were low). He told me that the dopamine agonists were very strong drugs and he didn't want to put me on them at the age of 37.

blood test-nutrients advice
Possibly the most complex part is the
iron
. Last time I tested was August last year and the results were:
Iron
92 (60-180) Ferritin 41.2 (10-120) I have been supplementing on and off with
iron
this year as symptoms were worse after period, but I was cautious about overdoing it.

Can anyone help with iron panel interpretation please
This is a friend’s recent
iron
panel Posted a couple of days ago but hoping for a better response this time I’ve looked on rT3 adrenals where it says a low transferrin level indicates a lack of capacity for supplemental
iron
.

RLS and changing meds
I believe my ferritin and
iron
levels were ok, but I will ask for them to be re-done at this time as well. Sugar is not good for me, as it will kick the RLS symptoms into high gear. Any advice is appreciated. p.s. I'm in San Antonio Texas

Another question: did anyone have all their joints crunching, clicking, and sore when their b12 dropped into deficiency range?
I take eod si injections, for 2 weeks and 4 days now, and I take folate, d3, k2 and I've had an
iron
infusion a few weeks ago too.

Copper deficiency anemia
Have tried megadose of IV
iron
--no benefit at all. Have been borderline anemia for decades also, despite taking
iron
supplements much of that time. Recently the anemia got worse, and with the
iron
connection to RLS, I thought I'd better do some more research. Taking more
iron
seemed pointless.

Question about Celiac or NCGS...
From gastritis, to guts, throat, and neurological (ended up with B12 and
Iron
issues because they gave me PPI, H2 and antacids at the same time! For what they said was reflux... but what I feel may be gluten) This all started with issues with my stomach and gut AGES ago. Later started tingling.

Looking for advice for my husband
He got normal results on everything except severely low vitamin D and high
iron
. They gave him high strength vitamin D capsules and took more bloods to test his
iron
and gene testing for suspected HH. Referred him for a colonoscopy, and awaiting a date.
