What do people class as an asthma attack?
I’m just wondering what people here class as an asthma attack? It’s just that I regularly see people writing that they’ve had an asthma attack. I’ve got Brittle asthma and generally class an attack as when I need my ventilin inhaler enough that I need steroids or end up on nebs or in hospital. I was

Letter to shield
I rang my surgery and was told, by the receptionist, that it’s probably because of the type of
inhalers
I’m on that’s flagged me up. Has anyone else just got this letter?

This sounds like a stupid question, I know.
I know both steroid
inhalers
and Montelukast suppress some immune responses like inflammation, but does that make us also more susceptible to getting any virus in the first place? Or is he (and I to some extent) unnecessarily concerned?

Symbicort 100/6 for COPD?
Hi. I've just been prescribed this inhaler in place of Fostair. I was diagnosed with COPD in 2010 after initial confusion as to whether I had Asthma. The tests confirmed COPD not Asthma. Reading the package leaflet it tells me this inhaler is SPECIFICALLY for Asthma! It doesn't even mention COPD! In

Nebulizers
Anyone else use a nebulizer? Was just given one but not really sure if I like it more than an inhaler. What do you do to pass time while nebulizing

New to Fostair 100/6
Hi everyone. Just looking for advice! I’ve started on a new inhaler (from seretide to fostair). My consultant has told me to take 2 puffs 4x a day for 2 weeks, then 2 puffs 3x a day for 2 weeks then eventually 2 puffs twice a day then possibly a little less. I’m just wondering if I’m having side effects

What is Peak Flow?
There seems to be a lot of confusion of what peak flow is, how it works and what is a ‘good’ score so I thought I’d make a post on it! WHAT IS PEAK FLOW? Firstly peak flow (PF) can also be called peak expiratory flow (PEF) or peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) so any and all of these abbreviations means

Ear issues progressing
Long time since posting. I am now finally on a great inhaler called Relvar but my ear canal has not improved but has got other symptoms attached to it now. 1. Started with pain in my ear canal. 2. Then it exacerbated my allergic symptoms like stuffed up, sinusitis pain, generally unwell, massive headaches

Wk9r1 I did 30 minutes
I JUST RAN FOR 30 MINUTES. That needed capital letters lol I am absolutely ecstatic- I never in a million years believed that I could do that. I went out slower than I have been running as I wanted to make sure I made it to the end. I wanted to pace myself, today was all about the time and not the

WK 8 R3 ✅ 🏃♀️
I’m feeling very pleased with myself ! 😁 I ran this run at steady pace, it doesn’t feel fast, I did use my blue inhaler before I started as it’s s bit windy and that did help with my breathing at the half way point. So here comes week 9 run 1, excited...... 😁🏃♀️🏃♀️😀

Learning about Asthma through Covid-19
Hello, I can honestly say, that I have learnt more about my asthma in the 3 or so months since the pandemic started than anyone ever told me about it in the 20 years prior. When suddenly I was classed as "vulnerable" I did some searching to find out why. Turns out I really didn't (don't?) understand

Why is it that Asthma is portrayed so awful in movies?
Themselves, and throw away their
inhalers
like they have grown personally, full of confidence. This is exactly why I don’t tell anyone I have asthma. I work in a hospital, and have seen co workers mention their asthma was bothering them, only to have staff roll their eyes.

Easy bruising, bleeding under the skin and skin tears, and steroids
But does anyone know whether the steroids in
inhalers
also are culprits even though the dose is so much lower. Any ideas?

Asthma inhaler side effects
My asthma is well controlled and I take one puff of fostair 100/6 (I’ve had asthma for about a year now.) I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with negative side effects from their inhaler? I think I have some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism (weight gain, tiredness, slightly low heart rate).

Phone review
Had my copd phone review with the GP nurse ... I scored 0 on the charts but she then asked had I considered taking anoro rather than spiriva respimat. Why fix something when it's not broke and try to change you from one thing to another.. its beyond me I told her I didn't like a powder inhaler but she

Rookie inhaler questions
I'm at the end of my first Salamol inhaler. I've been keeping a note of the usage and I'm at 220+ puffs. I do have another one to replace it. There is still white mist coming out into my spacer, but could that be the propellent? It doesn't seem to be lasting, but that could be the heat - I'm worse in
