Immunotherapy
I am not sure how long this has been around, but I hadn't heard of it before. It certainly looks promising for people with some types of cancer. I see skin cancer treated this way has been successfully treated and lung cancer held at bay. A lady in the article has had an extra two years of life, following

How Long To Wait For Trials and Treatments ?
The taking of the Chemotherapy and
Immunotherapy
are thankfully over, but remember it stays in your system for some while (6->8 weeks as best I know) and I’m still suffering from falling red blood cell count and Neutrophils, so I will hopefully be in for a red blood cell transfusion later this week.

Biologic or Immune Therapies for CLL
Hi Friends, This week’s update on the CLL Society website http://cllsociety.org is my unscripted recordings on biologic or immunotherapies . I start by reviewing my take on the good and bad of the well known and novel antibodies directed against our B cells by targeting its surface marker CD20. These

The Future Role of FCR and new data on venetoclax and rituximab
While many of us are not fans of chemo-

(CIT), Professor Hallek has strong data to support his perspective. Listen with an open mind. Please give a look here in our section on conference coverage from 2014.

Silicon Porous Micro Particles and cancer
These are intended to kick the body's own immune system into action to fend off the cancerous cells, with

drugs for melanomas, prostate and lung cancer all emerging in recent years. But one hurdle oncologists are yet to tackle with any great success is a vaccine for breast cancer.

Wheel of Fortune Update
I've also read that the Scottish nhs has just given the go ahead for Nintedanib, an
immunotherapy
drug, to be used to treat some patients. I believe that NICE may follow suit in May.

2 Parkinson’s Vaccine Report Positive Safety Results
While both
immunotherapy
drugs, the compound from AFFiRiS prompts the body to generate the antibody against alpha-synuclein while Prothena is introducing the antibody directly. MJFF has not funded Prothena but is consulting on its PRX002 project.

Chemo makes resistant cancer stem cells???
This would be quite an interesting paradigm shift from what I understood was the prime reason for therapy drug resistance. It is commonly assumed, in CLL/SLL, that clones are born with different degrees of resistance to drugs and lay in hiding only to emerge after therapy or a time lapse. Speculation

Can Your Body Be Trained to Cure Its Own Cancer?
Continued research in the area of
immunotherapy
is uncovering its power to fight cancer naturally while preserving the body's healthy cells. The exciting concept behind
immunotherapy
is that it uses the power of the body's own immune system to essentially treat itself.

On my blog, http://bkoffman.blogspot.com , Professor Stilgenbauer reviews how the significance of predictive and prognostic factors may differ in the world of chemo-
immunotherapy
versus the novel therapies such as ibrutinib or idelalisib.

Zoom Zoom, CAR-T Cells to Treat Myeloma
I am convinced that some type of
immunotherapy
is the key to the Holy Grail of MM research, dare I call it cure. The devil is in the details, of course, and we need more institutions to open up these trials, and more patients to take advantage of them.
