This paper is behind a paywall, so I'll get it elsewhere. But it shows the benefits of giving T3 to patients after heart failure. This is just the abstract

Does anyone else with SLE have leaky heart valves?
Hello everyone, I got a scare on Wednesday when I went for a routine echocardiogram (prior to bunion surgery next week as I said I had a leaky heart valve which had never caused me any problems and was very minor when they first discovered it about 10 years ago. To be safe they said they'd better check

Covid and Sinus Rhythm with Supraventricular Ectopy
Hi, Since my very successful ablation in November 20 I have been in normal sinus rhythm. I have contracted Covid, and have flu like symptoms. My Kardia (Advanced Determination) now reports I have Sinus Rhythm with Supraventricular Ectopy. I know that Covid can induce heart arrythmias, is this something

Travel Insurance
My son had open heart surgery to repair a large VSD at 5 months old. It was successful, but he still has mitral valve regurgitation and takes regular meds. We are planning to have our first family holiday in the summer. Which insurers would you recommend to get travel insurance with? Any advice is much

Mini Maze Procedures, there is a place for all, my personal view
I am sure I am not the only one who has been saddened by the recent heated discussions on the mini maze. I live in the U.K. and have recently had a mini maze where this is currently a lesser known and used procedure. Catheter ablations (and meds) are the standard in the U.K. and Catheter ablations

Breathing and coughing excercises
I've noticed in a lot of responses to questions that people recommend carrying on with their breathing and coughing excercises following open heart surgery. I wasn't given any after my surgery and am wondering what these excercises consist of as I still have breathing problems following my valve replacement

Heart surgery
I go into hospital tomorrow for open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. I was in hospital just before Easter to have a TAVI . My surgeon decided I was a candidate for OpH surgery. Bit daunting but looking forward to having a better quality of life!

Heart surgery and Hashimotos
Has anyone had heart surgery and then gone on to be diagnosed with Hashimotos/ under active thyroid. I’m just looking to connect with anyone in a similar situation.

AF, ablation and odd heart rhythms
I had an ablation for AF in Dec. Since the procedure I have only experienced one short 3 min run of AF, but my heart has been very unsettled over the last five months. Recently, I've been suffering bouts of tachycardia (140 BPM for a minute or two is about as bad as it gets) at night, which are manageable

Right Sided Pacemaker
I had a pacemaker inserted last year for sick sinus syndrome. Unfortunately it got infected and had to be removed. I found the whole thing very traumatic. Unfortunately had a four hour episode of low heart rate the other evening so might have to reconsider having another fitted which of course would

Underlying heart condition (coarctation of aorta) with AF
Hi I wonder if there is a link here? I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation/Atrial Flutter (don't think they know) about 2 years ago. I also have an underlying heart condition where the aorta was narrowed (coarctation), and corrected via open heart surgery when I was 11 (I'm now 63). However heart

Stopping Smoking
I am so proud of getting to a year+ since stopping smoking. Yes it took a heart attack and a triple heart bypass to give me the 'motivation'. I cannot believe I have no cravings whatsoever, ending a whole day fast and not being bothered about not having a cigarette, simply astonishing to my old self

Heart Surgery in India?
Hi I am new here so not sure if this appropriate for this forum. Three years ago I was diagnosed with two leaky heart valves. Due to Covid, three appointments with a cardiologist were cancelled. I didn't have any symptoms at the time. After a visit to A&E ,because of extreme breathlessness, I was referred

*Sensitive* He’s finally here - but now we have to have him over to the surgeons 💔 UPDATED
UPDATE 3.6.22: I just wanted to say a massive thank you so much for all of the kind messages and words of support 🙏. Our beautiful boy survived 5.5 hours of open heart surgery on Wed. We we were told by the surgeons that “it went smoothly”, which was a huge relief. However, it is still very early days
