High Pulse Rate and Irregular Rhythm 3 days after Ablation
I had a cryo ablation at the JR on Friday. I was expecting to be feeling better today but my pulse is all over the place, anywhere between 80 and 140, and irregular. I feel like I'm back in full-on AF.. breathless, tired and light headed. I left a message describing my symptoms with the arrhythmia nurses

how do I wash my hair?
silly question I know but I’m due to have open heart surgery very soon. I’m a 38 year old woman with long, blonde, curly hair. Can anybody give me some advice on how you washed your hair post surgery? I have a good support network so can get help if needs be. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, I was diagnosed with heart failure a couple of months ago when I woke up one morning struggling for breath with fluid in my lungs, having had virtually no previous symptoms. Looking back, maybe I was a bit short of breath over the last few months but did a sprint-distance triathlon 6 months ago so

BNP 1800
I have atrial fibrillation and my BNP tests that indicate risk of heart failure was 800 and is now 1700. The stats I have looked at are grim eg 80+% chance of death within 10 years and 50% for 5 years ( at around 2000 BNP near my numbers). Does anyone know if there is a treatment to lower BNP to under

my Kardia is giving all sorts of new readings since my flair up, ectopy, wide qrs, pvc, pac basically everything BUT NOT SO MUCH AF. do you have other arrhythmia? if so how does it affect you? for me it’s just as uncomfortable as the regular af

Wearable HR Monitor Accuracy Canadian authors from Toronto and Calgary (first author Ryan Quinn) have a short but important research letter in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) regarding the accuracy of wearable HR monitors in sinus rhythm (SR) and atrial fibrillation (AF).

Can you tell me what is this new symptom?
Hi once again. Just now I've noticed and felt a new type of heartbeat. My heartbeat was two beats -> pause -> two beats -> pause. Can someone tell what this is? I see a mention of bigeminy or pvc's. I'm currently almost a month post ablation. I didn't have afib episode since December. This is a first

Hubby feels rubbish 6 weeks after heart bypass
Hi everyone My hubby had a double bypass 6 weeks ago. He did very well initially, but it's 6 weeks now and he feels he's gone backwards. Still in pain with his chest, but now feeling more weak in his arms. Getting in and out of his chair is painful. He feels very unfit - top of the stairs and

worried in France
Good evening everyone. wishing everyone a peaceful Easter. I am in need of a little advice from you lovely people. Since last Friday, I have been experiencing irregular heartbeats and combined with occasional AF. At least I presume that’s what it is, very fast beats. I don’t really know how long I should

Silent urinary tract infection
hiya -advice/your experiences requested please. I was fortunate to be given open heart surgery mid feb to mend my heart (valve) and put it in good shape for future ops and quality of life. Fabulous surgeon/team. Recovery tough but was doing ok within 3 weeks of surgery - upto 1-1.5 miles walking. Then

Night sweats
I have noticed this week I have woken up with water on my back and chest. My hair is wet and my bedding is too. I am in my sixth week of recovery since having open heart surgery, valve replacement. Has anyone else experienced this, I have only noticed it this week.

What is normal after surgery and what isn't
My husband had stoma surgery two weeks ago and got home a week later. Since coming home he seems to be deteriorating not improving. On the advice of his stoma nurse, we are going to see the GP to get bloods taken, etc this morning. However, is it normal to go off your food, be scared to eat in case

Operations after heart bypass
I am interested in knowing about anyone who has had major surgery after a heart bypass even it wasn’t related to the heart and with full anaesthetic

Mitral valve regurgitation
I've always had a
heart
murmur
, from birth, I was to take beta blockers when I was younger but stop around age 20. The murmur is due to mild mitral valve regurgitation. I have never had any routine follow ups etc. Only ever when I've had worsened symptoms.

open heart surgery for AF
hi My EP says did to my heart having an anatomical variant he was unable to do the ablation as he couldn’t get to the heart through the vein. He is now telling me my only option is open heart surgery. Sounds a bt drastic but has anyone had this procedure for AF. My af has gone from PAF to persistent

Positivity, trust and determination are the key to a good recovery after major open heart surgery.
I am an 86 year old female but my aorta with a 6cms aneurism and the valve were replaced. I kept positive and, touch wood, five months on I am independent and well.
