No appointment available for rehab
Dear All My husband was referred for cardiac rehab to our local hospital. However, the hospital told us that they are dealing with a huge backlog and hence it will take a lot of time before he gets an appointment. Does anyone know of an alternative? I registered him on the bhf Weekly email thing for

Newly diagnosed
Hi everyone I've just been diagnosed with Afib following a 24 hour Holter monitor I had done in early December last year. The results only came back last week. Actually, the cardiologist's letter says the trace showed 1. Paroxysmal Afib 2. Atrial flutter 3. 4 short runs of VT which the cardiologist

Apixaban subconjunctival haemorrhage
After taking Apixaban for about three weeks I have a very red left eye; it looks like a subconjunctival haemorrhage is on the way. This is the third time that this has happened after taking an anticoagulant; the three weeks is the longest period I have managed without this occurring. I have read that

Sudden dull ache.
Hi, I had a heart attack and a stent fitted almost 6 months ago. I had my heart clinic follow up in October and have a follow up consult with the cardiac surgery team in a week or so. I also have a Drs. telephone consult next week. The only lingering thing i have had since my stent had been shortness

Spring Covid booster this Spring.
I have a mechanical Aortic valve replacement and therefore on Warfarin. I have AF which began shortly after open heart surgery which took place 7 years ago. Is it a GP decision if I should have the extra spring booster...? No one in my surgery has said I am vulnerable. With Covid restrictions being

Diet and AF
I had been suffering from AF in various forms, latterly persistent, for about 15 years. I had Mitral and Aortic Valve replacement surgery 10 years ago and two weeks ago I had Catheter Ablation. I have been in Sinus and feeling good since my Ablation, until last night. I woke at about 3am in AF.

His broken heart
My husband of 42 years is very sick. He has an infection in his heart internal bleeding they cannot locate, he will be getting a double aortic bypass, and aortic valve replacement. He has uncontrollable type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease. He’s a terrible patient. I’m trying to help him he’s too much

Open Heart Surgery, (OHS). General comments.
I hope my experiences might help reassure other people who are due to undergo OHS, in particular Aortic Valve Replacement, (AVR). I am a 66 years old male, 3 weeks into recovery from a successful redo procedure. I had my first surgery 9 years ago to replace a failing bi-cuspid 'original' valve. Both

When to Stop Beta Blockers
Hi All - I’m wondering if the beta blockers I’m taking are doing more harm than good? I had never taken beta blockers (I’m now taking metoprolol 25 mg once a day) before my ablation, but after my ablation they were prescribed for the week following. Unfortunately I never felt comfortable not taking them

Is this angina?
Hi all, I was diagnosed with afib 3 years ago and have mentioned to several medics (cardiologists, arrhythmia nurses) that I occasionally had slight heart aches when exercising or stressed, but none of them seem concerned. Afib does not seem to be related to heart pain - so I'm not sure whether the

Heart Scan
I have been admitted to hospital twice since my
heart
bypass
in May with chest pains. I still have angina which I thought went when you have the bypass. I have HF but I believe from others my ef is good at 40-45 and I am pleased with that.

CoQ10 dosage and when to take ?
I have CLL and my hematologist approved CoQ10. CoQ10 is recommended in Mayo litererature, for those with no counter-indications. But I lack good information about how many mg CoQ10 that I could ingest daily, and when to take the cap or caps . Thus, I would appreciate guidance. Also suggestions

1 month out from RF ablation for asymptomatic afib
Hi. I was diagnosed with afib in late 2019 at age 66 and put on an anti-coag and sotalol. I was in and out of afib quite regularly but rarely symptomatic. Three cardioversions failed to restore normal sinus rhythm (NSR) for any real length of time, so ablations were suggested (I live in the US.) Since

Edoxaban causing breathlessness?
Does anyone else get this issue? I was put on this medication in August. Came off Apixaban for same issue. I get it late morning then teatime. It is getting less severe as I recover from a long series of chest infections. I have been diagnosed as having ‘flutter’ which can bring on AF. I await an ablation

Safe INR level for Ablation?
I am one week from my first cyro ablation and my blood INR is 1.2. Most recommend a value between 2.0 and 3.0. What are folks' knowledge and experience in this area? Might I be canceled as, according to these numbers from today's tests, the Pradaxa hasn't thinned my blood much. Are these the cases where

8 days post ablation
What a week?! I had an RF ablation at the start of last week but felt, what I thought, was excessive pain in my chest (particularly when lying on my back) 2/3 days after but just stuck with it thinking it was a standard recovery symptom for RF as I’d only had cryo done before. However on Thursday night
