LIMA by pass or open heart surgery by pass which hals the best longevity does anyone know)?
My husband has been told he could have a LAD by pass using mammary artery instead of leg version. They do keyhole surgery through rib cage. Has anyone had this? Is it different to quality of open heart surgery ?

First Cardioversion procedure in Feb 23
I had phone call this morning telling me I had been booked for a Cardioversion on 02 Feb 23 at Barts hospital to try an correct AF. This will be the first one that I have ever had and to say I am not scared is an understatement. I have had at least 3 ablations, plus two mitral valve replacements,

Apixaban and the risk of bleeding
"Covid blood-thinner drug treatment dangerous and does not work". This scary headline in the Guardian today turns out to be specifically about Apixaban being used in relation to hospitalized patients recovering from covid. The article begins: “A blood-thinning drug given as a potential life-saver

CABG and beyond
Hi all. I had a triple bypass 9 months ago and went very well. The last week or so though i've been getting a bit out of breath walking sometimes ( i walk fast). Nothing major and nothing like before my bypass, but it's got me worrying i have some blockage after 9 months, with good diet and exercise.

Buzzing!!
This time last year, I was still recovering from a double
heart
bypass
after having had a completely unexpected
heart
attack in Dec 20. And now I'm running and, more importantly, enjoying it! I did have a small emotional moment at the end of the first 8 min run, thinking about how far I've come.

"Remodelling" of the heart
A member has lately said that the MDs have advised him to go for an ablation as soon as possible (he is in his 50-ties) in the course to prevent "remodelling" of the heart. I do believe in their good intention, but am puzzled if that really is so. The normal heart operation is with the coooperation

Baseline troponin level after cabg
Dear All Just wanted to ask if anyone knows what is the baseline troponin level for someone who has done cabg say almost a year ago? I know that normally it should be less than 14. But I was told by a doctor that a cabg patient will have a normal higher elevated level? With thanks Shaivi

Metoprolol
I have a CT angiogram tomorrow at 0830 and have been given two tablets of Metoprolol (50mg) to take 12 hrs and then 2hrs before the procedure. This is apparently to slow the heart down (to below 60bpm). I rang the hospital and told them that I already take Sotalol and my heart rate is generally slow

I feel let down by the medical professionals
I had a
heart
attack January 2020 triple
bypass
followed this. One phonecall from cardiology 3 months after it and an ECG in A&E last year nothing else. No one seems concerned about the pains in the chest neck and shoulder. The getting breathless just sitting there.

Never Ending
I was only diagnosed a week ago, after a weekend of being in AFib, went to the ER. Confirmed. It's been non stop ever since. I am now on Xarelto and Metoprolol 50 x2 a day. NO relief. Most of my ECG readings show heart rate around 130-140. BP mostly ok--a bit high, but not awful. I find myself

AF taking a different direction??
Had an AF attack yesterday and it was terminated after 3 hours with my PIP 200 mg Flecainide and half a metoprolol tablet. This is about average and I have attacks every 7 to 10 days. After a few hours rest I went for a walk but didn’t feel great, lethargic and generally off par. I kept checking my apple

Long term medication effects
I had a quadruple
heart
bypass
in December last year, so I'm now almost six months post-op. As does everybody who goes through this situation, I have been put on medication, as prescribed by my cardiologist.

A diagnosis! Yipee! Kawasaki Disease, look for calcified aneurysms! (also a question about warfarin)
Hey you lovely lot! So, some of you know that I needed a 2x CABG Jan 2022 aged 34 (very nearly my newly plumbed heart's birthday!) and every Dr/Cardiologiost that looked at my notes/history/angiograms came away scratching their heads and not understanding what had happened or why my vessels were so
