My husband has been told he could have a LAD by pass using mammary artery instead of leg version. They do keyhole surgery through rib cage. Has anyone had this? Is it different to quality of open heart surgery ?

I would definitely have preferred that approach, unfortunately mine was a quad so they took from a leg and an arm. Very invasive approach but hey I am healthy now so either way you get better 😁

I had the mammary and leg arteries 21 years ago and am still here. I had stents fitted in my grafts 12 years ago. Whatever he has it will give him a new lease of life. Goox luck.

LAD was 100% occluded and I did not have any symptoms but diagnosis was done as part of routing checkup. Doctor suggested for bypass and instead of taking multiple opinions i went ahead with bypass and since the surgery my life has been miserable as i have developed heart failure as a result of bypass. I have been praying God every moment to take me away as I can't tolerate breathlessness. Further I can't take Enteresto/Dapa due to side effects. Had I taken multiple opinions before surgery i would have lived normally. Some cardiologists explained that since i had developed collaterals there was no need for bypass surgery. So i would suggest you to take mutiple opinions before deciding on surgery.

Hello

Have you been told your Heart Failure is due to bypass surgery? I have had bypass surgery along with stents (twice ) and my bypassed LAD opened up to try to improve my Breathless episodes. My Heart Failure moves from Moderate to Severe and back to Moderate.

I love living and thank the Surgeon and Cardiologists ( 3 different ones ) for all they have done for me. I live a pretty full life, pop the pills every day and very Happy every morning when I wake up! Please try to embrace the fact you are here I am sure it is better than any Alternative.

Regards and let me be the first to Wish you a Merry Christmas

Unfortunately i had my bypass surgery and soon after i developed heart failure symptoms. I guess I am unlucky or it is just that i did not take multiple opinions.
