Heart bypass update - I made it
Following on from my earlier post about my anxiety of having bypass surgery (and the many fantastic replies, advice and stories) I am happy to say my quadruple bypass went ahead on Thursday and was a complete success. Not going to lie, the first couple of days were tough but no where near as hard as

My mother had a triple

Looking for a bit of reassurance… My dad had a triple
heart
bypass
3 weeks ago, all went well apart from starting with a chest infection whilst in ICU. He was given IV antibiotics then oral antibiotics and was discharged after 5 days.

How do I know if I'm fixed? Calling all runners!
The outcome was diffuse Atherosclerosis and a double
heart
bypass
on 07/07/23. Recovery wasn't straightforward, infections, effusion in the chest and pericardium, but that all got sorted within about 8 weeks. I want (need) to get fit again.

shoulder and arm pain after heart bypass
My friend had a quadruple bypass 4 weeks ago. He's had trouble with pins and needles in his arms and hands. The last 4 days a lot of pain in shoulders and arms which has lead to loss of sleep. He also has a cough. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Smoking After Bypass
We then got onto bypasses as I have had a quadruple
heart
bypass
and had one behind the right knee (the leg I am having problems with now) planned before a new broom (Dr Plonker) cancelled it saying you only intervene when there is ulceration and gangerence.

just wondering how long people’s
heart
bypasses have lasted? I had a double

twenty one years ago and a stent fitted three years ago, all seems well up to now.

Travel insurance help
Hi I had a
heart
bypass
last year and now looking at getting travel insurance sorted for a trip away. I am just confused as to what conditions I list on the travel insurance application. It is
heart
bypass
and high cholesterol or is it now considered I have
heart
disease/failure also.

This is normal after a heart bypass, isn't it?
My husband had a bypass on Friday, a double if that makes a difference. 3 nights in ICU, chest infection, exhaustion and gibbering nonsense. Today moved into HDU and was so much more alert, talkative and seemed like his old self. Just had him on the phone to me, worried they were giving him too many

HDT b1 PROTOCOL
I had a
heart
bypass
operation18 months ago, and since then, I take 100mg asperin tablets daily to thin my blood. This is standard practice. However, Daphne, in her excellent book on this protocol warns of taking thiamine shots and anti-coagulants. Taken together, they can cause a "haematome" ?!

Tips for supporting my Dad after heart bypass
Hi all, My Dad is having a triple
heart
bypass
next week so I wanted to ask if there’s anything that anyone found particularly useful/ helpful whilst in hospital and for recovery. Also anything I can do to support my mum too would be wonderful.
