Blood test after x-ray

Despite having a lingering cough, my mum has had no other systems but decided to see the doctor.

They suggested she have an x-ray.

Anyway, they've asked her to have a blood test regarding her heart.

Her cough seems to be getting better and she doesn't feel tired, had any chest pains or any other issues. Basically she feels totally fine.

I just wondered if they only request a blood test regarding the heart if they've spotted something on the x-ray dispite her being asymptomatic, or can they request that type of blood test just to rule things out?

A few years ago she had a heart bypass, but then it was obvious she had a problem with chest pains and being out of breath when she walked. Now though, she has no issues.

Did they say what they are testing for ? Probably troponin?

It’s likely to see if there is any cardiac issue/activity as a precaution.

The nurse just said they were doing a blood test regarding the heart, but didn't mention any specific test.

Probably just 'belt and braces'.

At this moment be grateful they want the test and face any issues if or when they occur.

From a personal point of view they seem to take a blood test from me as soon as I visit hospital, I believe the blood gives a myriad of information.
