I take it many of you have reached the time when you are having your yearly blood test after heart bypass. I just wondered how conclusive and accurate you have found the results.

Yearly blood test
Hello
After my triple Bypass I believe it is because the medications maybe I am on I have to have my bloods done every 3 months and as far as I have been aware one of the main reasons is to check the medications I take are not affecting any other organs
I personally think these blood tests are very reliable and can tell the Doctors so much that if anything needed to be looked at the results from the blood tests give them a clear view if needed to look into anything that may not be as they feel it should be
I hope your blood tests results go well which normally they will do x
I agree with BeKind, I find the annual blood tests to be both accurate and informative. I monitor the results closely and use them to understand how medication and changing my life style has affected my risks of future health problems.
Do you have specific reasons to doubt the results?
Good luck with the tests!
Yes I’m ok . Still alive after 4 years . It was more of a question as to how people progressed after the blood tests and whether the results matched their present state of health . Being a pessimist I expect some alteration in the results as I get older . So for another year I can breath a sigh of relief - or hope so 😺
I find the "annual check" to be a mixed blessing. I get some data. It is the one time I can ask for extras such as Iron levels, or Vitamin D levels. But, if you get a fussy review-er they can run scared of things like a high potassium level. In the parallel medicines review they once wanted to upgrade my bronchitis meds, and they really did not know what they were asking.
Go into a discussion with planned pauses phrases: can I think about that?
Back in March I had the yearly blood test and a few weeks later got told that it needed to be repeated and I was terrified!
One of my friends who is a phelbotomist reassured me that if something was seriously wrong I would have been contacted straight away not a few weeks later!
I did go and get the test repeated back in May just before I moved and the nurse was nice and explained that when tests need repeating its to do with problems at the lab and if anything was serious I would have been contacted right away which reassured me!
Anyway thankfully the repeated test was fine so no need for any more until next May at the earliest!
I have discovered that the blood test results at my surgery are reviewed by a nurse who decides if there is any need to refer to GP. In my partner's case this has led to some inconsistencies so I keep an eye on mine myself even though I find them hard to interpret.
