Wondering if anyone can relate to these symptoms
EPI - my
haemoglobin
and red blood cell count has slowly, slowly dropped over past few years until slightly below lowest ref level but GP said not low enough for concern.

Familial Polycythemia
Our blood tests always show a red cell count around 5.6,
Haemoglobin
160 and ESR 9. We've never been given any information but my daughter saw her GP yesterday and discussed the blood test results, he said we clearly have familial Polycythemia and should be being checked regularly.

Myelofibrosis - GVHD - graft, versus, host, disease
After giving many different blood samples at haematology I was told my
haemoglobin
was at 66 which apparently is very low. I needed an immediate blood transfusion.

My
haemoglobin
count is down to 104 from 115 (21/3/24). I suspect this may be coming from gut as so sore at times of late and due for follow-up investigation August.

Don't know where to start
Most recent blood test also shows high
haemoglobin
MCH and asking GP about it is like trying to get blood from a stone. Next rheumatology appointment has been cancelled several times but they rang yesterday and offered me one on Tuesday.

Monitoring when starting Folic Acid and Ferrous fumerate
A rise in the
haemoglobin
level and an increase in the reticulocyte count to above the normal range indicates that treatment is having a positive effect. If there is no improvement following initial B12 treatment, check serum folate level (if this has not been done already).

Is thyroid causing my symptoms?
Haemoglobin
142 (115-165) now recovered after being down to 117 last year, >130 is normal for me. Vitamin D not checked but I’ve taken daily supplement for 3 years. Sorry it’s long, thank you for any advice or suggestions!

Recovery from stress/burnout
Most recent blood results: T4 - 18.2 (12-22), TSH - 2.39 (0.3-4.2),
Haemoglobin
132 (120-150), ESR, RBC, kidney function “-all normal”. In A & E at the end of April they said my ferritin and potassium levels were low, but it seems my GP didn’t re-test these.

My low ferritin saga continues
His response I'm sure will cause some amusement for all the wrong reasons - he said " low ferritin levels in the absence of low
haemoglobin
are of no clinical significance and do not require any action - we will only give supplements if
haemoglobin
is low i.e. anaemic".
