Tech Tues: Ever wondered why Coeliac causes other AI conditions or causes such varied symptoms?
Here's a handy video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lNHhuqsix4 by an American Dr explaining: - how your body responds to gluten - why Coeliac Disease doesn't just effect the gut/stomach - why Drs often recommend patients with other AI diseases like Thyroid, RA avoid gluten as well and take up a gluten

Adapting Cake Recipes
Hello all, hope the week has been treating you fairly. Well, last weekend saw me having to cook a mammoth sized birthday cake for a friend of mine. Naturally, it had to be gluten free so I could taste the fruits of my labour but I didn't want it to be obviously gluten free. Having never cooked a "

Attitude towards some coeliac's.
Since my second diagnosis of CD I had continued health issues relating to the gluten free diet so I wrote letters and persued answers. My latest is from the Department of Health Parliamentry MP (also of the FSA) and basically if "Very low gluten" does not agree with you try "gluten free" if this does

Chef admits deceiving gluten free diners
I read an article today about a chef who has admitted to giving glutenous pasta to diners asking for the gluten free option (you can read the article here: http://www.examiner.com/ny-in-new-york/ny-chef-admits-to-deceiving-gluten-free-customers) I was absolutely horrified reading this and the comments

PCOS & B12 Deficiency & Coeliac Disease
My 2 daughters were diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in their 30s last year. Their anti-bodies are now 0. The Gluten free diet is spot on. However they both have had odd periods. Very heavy & painful to very light and lasting a few days. Have been scanned and have multiple cysts. Are being tested for testosterone

Research: Coeliac Disease & Sleep disorders
We've seen quite a few posts on our discussion page on facebook about Coeliacs and Sleep disorders. Yet until now we hadn't seen much research into this area. New research from Italy has been conducted into the 'quality of sleep' in people with Coeliac Disease. The Department of Clinical and Experimental

Still feeling rough despite a strict gluten free diet?
I'll keep this short and snappy. A re-ocurring problem I had post-gf diet was 'why do I feel so rough when I felt so good initially'. After hounding my GP repeatedly and proving I'd been a good Coeliac (cue blood tests, 2nd endo, camera pill), it appeared that nutritional deficiencies aka Iron, Vitamin

New poll live: Vote, vote, vote!
We're keen to know which highstreet supermarket you think caters for your Coeliac needs the best. When voting for our new poll please don't just focus on the 'Free From' ranges offered by the high street supermarkets. We're keen to gain a better perspective of which supermarket you find serves best

Digestive system 101.
So, lets talk about your gut. If you have coeliac disease (and I’m guessing that most people reading this, with the exception of my family and friends, do), you will have at least a basic understanding of what happens to your gut when you eat gluten. The thing about CD is, it’s quite individual. Some

Why being strict with the Gluten Free Diet is SO important.
I have heard recently (from several sources), that post-diagnosis many people with Coeliac Disease are still eating gluten regularly ‘so their body doesn’t reject it’. It seems to me, that this is some sort of urban myth, based around the idea that if you eat some gluten, you may have to suffer with

Common symptoms? When to get tested for RA?
Hi it's Coeliac Awareness week in the UK which is another auto-immune condition. RA is associated with patients with Coeliac Disease. As many of our members still feel ill despite a Gluten Free Diet for life and additional vitamin supplements we were wondering if any of you would like to give them tips

Do coeliac disease symptoms resolve after following a gluten free diet?
I haven't had much luck with improving my symptoms having tried to diet for the last couple of months. Most of the advice has come from different sites on the internet. How effective is dieting for most people and is there a good resource for recipes that people can recommend.

Another example.....more confusion?" what do you think?
Copied from another board where the person is on a "strict gluten-free diet" and still getting glutened and has not considered the diet might be the cause as she is still consuming gluten, amout unknown. Medication gluten is suitable for the majority of coeliacs but not all. "is all citalopram prescribed

Gluten Content from Barley Malt in Cereals

Am I a coeliac?
Hi, this probably sounds random. I started a gluten free diet about 10 years ago because I was bloated, tired, stomach cramps, anaemic, suffered terrible migraines and alternated between terrible diarrhea and constipation. A few years ago my sons doctor said I should be tested for coeliac disease
