Nanocarriers study shows antibodies against polyethylene glycol in 83% of the German population
"For us, polyethylene glycol is interesting for coating nano-sized drug carriers with it," says Svenja Morsbach, group leader in Katharina Landfester's department at the MPI for Polymer Research. In this way, the researchers achieve a longer circulation time for the drug capsules, which are only nanometers

New papers on PA
There are often new interesting papers on pernicious anemia. I will add them to this thread to keep them all in one place. I'll try to the pick the ones I think are most novel & relevant, but plenty are published every month. To see more, check Google Scholar https://scholar.google.com/scholar?start=

Polyethylene Glycol - Rhinase Nasal Spray
I am trying to figure out if I have a sensitivity to Rhinase in my nose. If I spray it on my arm (inside part), and no reaction does that indicate no issue or is there a delayed reaction and/or mucus membranes act differently?

Question about CKD and having a colonoscopy
Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with CKD Stage 2. I am also scheduled to have a colonoscopy in December. I am scared that the laxative solution and the phosphate enema that I have to take as part of preparing for the colonoscopy will damage my kidneys even more than they already are. I am also worried

Interferons as the First Choice of Cytoreduction in ET and PV
»Interferons are a group of cytokines with immunomodulatory properties and were the first immune therapies used in the treatment of cancers, including hematologic malignancies. Use of standard interferon alfa-2b for MPN treatment has been limited by its difficulty in administration and adverse effect

Reaction question
Hi all, new here. I believe that I am reactive to glycols and I'm trying to figure it all out. I started my health journey years ago as a way of coping with my highly allergenic self (asthma, eosinophilia, sjogrens) and have not eaten processed foods largely at all because of it. My hair, skin and

Besremi versus Pegasys
This question was raised by Flynn2107 months ago. I looked into it and replied there but it seems worth a new post with the recent FDA approval. PEG and Ropeg (Besremi) use polyethylene glycol (PEG) to control the release of the INF molecule. The earliest INFs had less of a control element and more

Skin prick testing
Hi! I have had reactions to miralax and also medications that contain polysorbate 80 so I went in to be tested today. The 3 different strengths of miralax or polyethylene glycol were tested. The first was negative. The second two stronger ones I did develop a bump but very small, with the highest strength

PEG allergy, new to this and struggling with an allergist who doesn't know what PEG is?
Hi, I'm new to this after having a reaction to PEG in a shot. The allergist (it took me ages to find one in my area) assured me when I called that they could test and consult for PEG allergies, but opened the actual appointment by saying I was their first ever patient with this allergy-- and then went

Allergy to polyethylene glycol what does that mean for other glycols
Hi I had anaphylaxis last week to an arthritis medication and I have been diagnosed as having a polyethylene glycol allergy. What I don't know is does this mean I am also allergic to other glycols like propylene glycol?
