Prof Graham Hughes' April blog
We decided to start her immediately on heparin – (low molecular weight ‘
Fragmin
’ by injection twice daily). On Sunday morning the cardiologist called me at home. The patient was well, sitting up in bed with a cup of tea and chatting to her family!

Secondly, ‘modern’ heparin (low molecular weight heparin, such as
Fragmin
or Clexane) is very safe, its only problem being that it requires injection. (Many, many pregnant Hughes syndrome patients take heparin injections for 8-9 months). Mrs BJ returned after three weeks. All headaches gone!

Anybody gone from warfarin back to fragmin?
I am wondering whether to ask if I can try going back to
fragmin
alone. I have been on warfarin for 6 years and right now it is driving me nuts. I think I am in peri menopause and my INR changes everyday. So I am always testing and adjusting my doses.

Ugggh!! Another PE!
Well it's looking like
Fragmin
for life (or similar LMWH) for me now. No more denial for me- APS has once again slapped my hand hard. Started feeling really strange on Monday, severe chest/back pain continuing.

Is knowing too much a good thing??
My general health over the years has been ok but as most of you I have had complications, such as having to inject daily with
Fragmin
whilst pregnant. The kid's were both born very early (the first 11wks and second 9wks) by emergency c section.

Anaemia still there so haemo wants test for cancer. OMG
I got sent to haemo as I wanted to change from warfarin to
fragmin
. My GP was scared so sent me to haemo. She said as I was pale must be anaemic. Well she was right I am 10.5 should 12. I said Iwould eat more red meat to try to solve it, so ate liver twice a week but it did not budge.

'Funny Turns' and Hughes Syndrome
My INR is back in range now, so I have stopped the
Fragmin
; the result, a return of dull headaches and dizziness. So, for me, I feel much better on
Fragmin
than warfarin but I would need to have 15,000IU of
Fragmin
od to be able to stop taking warfarin altogether.

A very good news blog!
Having been referred myself to St Thomas'... now on second appointment next month, back to where I was originally treated in 1989 for multiple clots, and also where I had all three children safely, on '
fragmin
'.

Being given the run around with diagnosis and other gripes
Also they did not get out my obstetric and other notes, over the months I have asked, (used to live locally to hospital), which would have showed my multiple blood clots and my high level of
fragmin
for three pregnancies both during and 6 weeks after, plus admission for other ailments plus flare ups

hickman line query
I am currently on
fragmin
to try and stop this but have just been diagnosed with another clot in my arm. Now i have had clots before when i have had lines in live CVP lines or femeral lines but i was told that was because of infection.

Just out of Curiosity, what age did you feel you started with Lupus signs and symptoms? Age of diagnosis?
, went onto have my daughter - with twice daily
Fragmin
Injections and 75mg per day aspirin. Not long after having my daughter, (she was 10 weeks old), I was admitted into hospital with severe pelvic pain, shakes, high temperature and fevers - I had an internal infection after a c-section.
