Peak flow - controlled asthma appearing uncontrolled
Hi My 5 year old son had his asthma review 2 weeks ago and we've started recording his peak flow. The first week his readings were fine, but in the last week I've had to multi-dose him with his reliever inhaler six out of eleven times using the peak flow meter levels. This isn't like him to need his

Coughing while taking peak flow reading
As someone newly diagnosed with Asthma I am still unsure about many things. During this last bad chest infection I have had great difficulty trying to get a peak flow reading, each time I try to blow into the tube the coughing starts and mucus blocks my throat. Is this usual and if so how do you get

Breathless and uncomfortable but peak flow ok?
Stupid question time from yours truly. My best peak flow so far (and I'm still doing the regular readings for the asthma nurse to diagnose) is 410. That is an evening reading when it should be at its best anyway. I've had a run of really good days and have been able to get on and do most things without

Kind of new here. Tiredness and asthma!
I was a member here for several years when my daughter was asthmatic. I made many friends and gained tonnes of help. She grew out of her asthma and is very well now but I have developed asthma and all the old info I had in my head is hiding!! I'm still at the stage where I'm completing a peak flow

Advice please?
HI there, just wondered if I should see my GP/asthma nurse? My max peak flow is 570 and I usually hang about the 550 mark I had reduced to Flixotide 250 1 puff twice a day and montelukast and still had no symptoms through the week About two months ago, my symptoms returned and my peak flow reduced

Experiences of pregnancy after pre-eclampsia
Hello. I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy, and ended up having my daughter at 27 weeks. Thankfully she is absolutely fine, and is now nearly 2 and a half. We are talking about TTC again, and I've had an appointment to discuss this with the obstetrician. He said we should go ahead and he's confident

I'm new!
When I say I am new, that means to this site and to COPD. I am 57 and am pretty fit and healthy but after I gave up smoking in January, I started to have breathing problems. To cut a long story short, I have a very good GP who specialises in Asthma/COPD and the practice has a respiratory nurse.

COPD and always tired
Hi, I visited my doctor about a month and a half ago as I hurt my shoulder and while I was with her I thought I may aswell mention how breathless I get. Was given a peak flow to use for a month then had to see her again. I was told I had asthma and given a brown and blue inhaler and was asked to make

Does anyone understand how peak flow measurements indicate severity of COPD
I am assessed as moderate COPD, however my peak flow of 275 does not appear on peak flow charts, the lowest figure being 300. The medics tell me my peak flow and breathing are fine/normal. This is very confusing as anyone else encountered this sort of cofusion during their treatment?

Weird triggers
My peak flow took a bit of a dive this morning when I accidently inhaled toothpaste froth. [Stupid face]. Didn't struggle too much to get over it, but it got me thinking about weird triggers. One of my weird ones is toast, it doesn't even have to be overdone. What are your weird triggers? Would love

Changing type of inhaler device...
Hi, I am new to asthma and was only diagnosed about 2months ago. I was first prescribed Ventolin MDI reliever inhaler and then a Clenil MDI preventer inhaler was added. After using the Clenil Preventer inhaler for 4weeks I saw a big improvement in my asthma and peak flow. However, the Clenil was causing

Peak flow assistance please
Hi I'm new to this site and was diagnosed with asthma 8 years ago, but suspect I had it since I was a child. My parents thought I was breathless because I was unfit, hence such a late diagnosis. My asthma has been a lot better since I moved away from the city, but I haven't been treating it as such

4th Asthma Review at the end of August
Good evening to everyone, Hope everyone is well and it is not to hot that it is affecting your asthma to badly. I am going back to my asthma doctor at the end of next month to discuss my asthma again as it is still up and down, I have had to have at least one course of pred every month since December

Weather
I do not know if it is co-incidence but since the weather has become hot my peak flow has dropped and I am having to use my inhalers more, I do suffer with hay fever although my antihistamine tablet does seem to be controlling that side of things nicely. I was wondering if anyone else has found that

Is this asthma? Throat and chest tight
Hi, this is likely to be a long one, but I'd be grateful for any thoughts as I'm quite confused! Not looking for medical advice per se, but any thoughts would be gratefully received. I'm 28, have been asthmatic pretty much all my life. Went back on inhalers in my early 20s and since then it's been very
