I do not know if it is co-incidence but since the weather has become hot my peak flow has dropped and I am having to use my inhalers more, I do suffer with hay fever although my antihistamine tablet does seem to be controlling that side of things nicely.
I was wondering if anyone else has found that their asthma has got worse since this spell of hot weather has begun.

Yes! I am suffering because have problems big time with fungal spores as well as having issues with grass and weeds as well so not very fond of this time of year as far as asthma is concerned.
I have recieved air alerts for ozone levels being moderate for today and tommorrow. Plus pollen forecasts from Worcester Uni are:
Tree - Moderate
Grass - Very High
Fungal spores - Very High
Weeds - High
I've been struggling the last couple of days too but I thought it was this cold I've managed to pick up (seriously, in July, when we have proper summer weather). Hitting the Atrovent big time!
Don't know if the weather could be contributing: I know pollen is high but pollen and mould aren't triggers for me so it would have to be just the weather, and as it's not that humid atm wouldn't have expected to be this bad. Maybe that plus the cold...
I've been reacting to the sun coming out all summer, fortunately its not been out for long since early in the season. As soon as things started to dry out end last week it hit me. Am on the smarties Feeling much better now though.
Its a bit frustrating that the TV / airtext are reporting low pollen counts though. Doesn't give me any credibility at all
I guess that's one blessing of a crappy summer! Glad you're feeling better, hope off smarties soon.
Not sure where TV is getting figures from; the reports I saw said vv high counts, there was most of an article about it!
My lungs don't like hot weather, as soon as the temperature hits 24'c, that's it for any physical jobs for me (even walking.) I have to plan all of my activity for early morning and late evening if it's cools enough. Throw in the high grass pollen too and it's a double whammy. My current meds are working well though as long as I am being lazy.

I have hay-fever and I thought the same.
My issues in the last week have definintly been pollen driven. The pollen forecasts appear to report on grass pollen alone. If your sensitive to other pollen types (weeds etc), you may experience a high pollen situation when the TV report levels as low.
Someone also mentioned mould I think, I don't usually react to this but others may be affected. Pollution may also affect people, levels have been rising in the south UK all week so this may have an impact too. I'm no expert though, others will know a lot more than me!
After being on pred for 6 days, I'm feeling much better. I'll be doing rain dances tomorrow, with the weather forcast guesses there's a good chance of some success. Am happy to do some for anyone not upto it just now!
Definitely. I'm spending my mornings attached to my inhaler. All morning today I was coughing up lungs. Everyone says I sound like a smoker I cough that much. I do think it's related to the weather.
My youngest is really struggling with hayfever at the moment which is obviously affecting his asthma too. Funny as all we hear all winter is 'wait for the good weather and he should be better' then summer gets here and he's got allergies to contend with and isn't any better.
know that feeling. Asthma been all over the place and now to top it off i've got laryngitis
I've dealt with allergies my whole life- pollen, dust, pollution, dirty animals. I just recently suffered a small bout of asthma and was taking an inhaler plus allergy meds every day. Living in the city is no help either. I purchased an air purifier airpurifiersource.com/air-p... and have noticed a huge difference, at least while I'm at home.
I have the opposite problem very hot and very dry is great for my lungs but hot and wet makes them a tad grumpy! Don't get me started on thunderstorms I'm like an early warning system! Hay fever has been pretty bad thou but two kinds of antihistamines a day seem to keep it at bay! x
