Peak flow assistance please

Hi

I'm new to this site and was diagnosed with asthma 8 years ago, but suspect I had it since I was a child. My parents thought I was breathless because I was unfit, hence such a late diagnosis.

My asthma has been a lot better since I moved away from the city, but I haven't been treating it as such since I moved. I misplaced my peak flow for quite some time and have recently found it again. I'm currently blowing 350 on an eu meter. I'm 30 years old and 5'6"". I generally feel well. I'm not sure whether this is a good reading for an asthmatic or not!

I use ventolin on occasion and was previously on becotide too.

My gp is very hard to get appointments with and I was curious as to what your thoughts would be with regards to my peak flow whilst I am waiting for my appointment in the next fortnight.

Thanks in advance :)

Hello!

You can work out your predicted peak flow reading on here; peakflow.com/top_nav/normal...

It depends if the peak flow meter you are using is a older one (WM)or the new EU version. You can tell by looking at the number values on your peak flow- if they are printed on a yellow strip then it's EU and if it's printed on any other colour then it's an old one. Then you should easily be able to work out your predicted.

It sounds to me like it's a good thing you have a GP appointment! Good luck with it!

Alice

Thanks for the link! It says I should be 430, so my reading is a bit low!
