Worsening asthma since taking Fostair, despite peak flow etc. looking fine
I have been on Seretide 250 until fairly recently, and my asthma has been the best it has ever been, only needing to take Ventolin about once every 6 months. Since taking Fostair my asthma seems to have got gradually worse, and I am now taking Ventolin most days. I have spoken to doctors about this

Brochiectasis and stress

Asthma review
Hi there I’m new to this and I wondered if anyone else has had the same experience. I’ve recently moved to a new surgery. My old surgery had a fab asthma nurse and she was up to date and it was reassuring to see her. This new surgery doesn’t have a asthma nurse so my review was done by ‘the nurse’. She

Asthma exacerbation with ok oxygen levels?
Hi there, I have been off my feet for nearly three weeks with a bad asthma flare, initially flaring due to cold. A persistent issue that keeps arising for me is that every time I see a dr during a bad flare, with a very very low peak flow level (as per plan), clear shortness of breath, increased coughing

Asthma Review with a Matron
I have completed an asthma review with a totally new community matron who has never met me before. It went well but I definitely knew more about asthma than her. I am to continue on 40mg prednisolone until peak flow stabilises. I am to continue on Symbicort 200/6 two puffs six times a day. I am to start

Asthma flare up
I’ve been in and out of hospital a couple times in the past few weeks, o2 levels have been fine, heart rate raised but just been sent home. Over the last few days my asthma has been significantly worse so I’ve been following my action plan and I’ve been to the doctors today and been given another course

Has anyone got CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) from preeclampsia?
Hi, just doing a bit of research as I have recently been diagnosed with CKD. I had some blood tests done recently when I was 39 weeks pregnant with my daughter as they thought I had preeclampsia. I didn't have preeclampsia but they found I have a high creatinine level. According to tests I've had a realised

Hi everyone I am 55 months non smoker with stage4 NSCC I have been on crizotinib all treatment for 4 weeks. I believe it's got a 60 percent success figure which is good. Does anyone know of anyone who found it didn't work for them and how long it took to find out? So far very minor side effects. I have

Frustration!
Bit of a rant today..... As a teacher I have to teach 'the whole child'. When is someone in the medical profession going to see me as a person and not a series of baffling conditions?!!! Having been rejected for a lung transplant due to problems with my oesophagus I would have thought I'd see someone

Getting a diagnosis
I have bronchiectasis of unknown cause and chest problems for all of my 65 years. I still feel young at heart but find my chest increasingly bothersome. I've seen many respiratory consultants and spent 5 of my first 13 years in hospital. I've never had a typical asthma attack, however I'm very much

Not Asthmatic Diagnosis
I have short breath all the time specially in the morning but without wheezing or cough. I feel breathless with cough only after exercise (without wheezing). I used a peak flow for 3 days and the variation was 15% but I didn't try it before and after exercise. I asked the pharmacist about a medicine

Few questions on taking the inhalers
Morning all, As a newbie to taking inhalers for asthma, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm currently taking Qvar 100 2 inhalations twice-A-Day. Could you let me know: 1. In the morning should I take it before or after breakfast? 2. Should I measure my peak flow before or after taking the

Putting on weight!!!
I had my yearly asthma check today and everything was really good , my peak flow had improved, all other things were well within normal range until I got on the scales .... to my horror I had gained 2kgs. Now I didn't start this to lose weight even though I know I need to maybe drop a stone. It's hard

First Asthma Attack Ever - Recovery Time?
Hi there. I have never had asthma before, however do have hay fever, some years worse than others. Back in June 2017 I slept with the windows open in 32 degree heat and there was a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, I woke up with a really tight chest and couldn't breathe properly. The doctor said
