Two MS Medications Appear on FDA’s Shame List
Apparently, Ampyra and Tecfidera don't want to play nice with generic making companies: https://multiplesclerosisnewstoday.com/2018/05/25/two-ms-meds-appear-fda-shame-list/?utm_source=Multiple+Sclerosis&utm_campaign=449bb30c21-RSS_US_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5fb7a3dae-449bb30c21-72136581

Hello. First Post.
Just registered on this site, I was given my genetic test result last week and the nurologist then confirmed I had AMN. VLCFA blood test was earlier, high levels. And now I don't know what to do. I got some Baclofen from my GP a few months ago when he informed me my limping was in fact spasticity.

Well; today was the day..... the DMT talk with my Neurologist. He’s a bit concerned to report that I have TEN spinal cord lesions. He said “1 is a lot in MS”. 5 on brain. For those that haven’t read my first post; I was diagnosed a month ago and did a round of IV and oral steroids until today. Because

Ampyra and Biotin
I’m starting ampyra tomorrow. I can walk but I’m so SLOW. Hoping that the walking speed and balance improves! I have bruises on my right arm and leg from stumbling into things. Last time I posted, I was very concerned about my memory. I have quit taking biotin and I’m thinking much clearer and the dizziness

Ampyra-1 month later
It’s officially been a month since starting Ampyra. Wow! What a difference I’ve had. I can only hope it continues to help! My walking is noticeably better. I have almost no stiffness after sitting now. The only negative thing I’ve noticed is at times my legs feel weaker, probably because they aren

Pharmacy too helpful? Lol
So my neuro started me on ampyra. The drug company sent me two months of samples and said they would check back. Since then my neuro’s office has called trying to get things arranged and the specialty pharmacy has called three times (2x today!) trying to arrange shipment! I keep reminding them I have

The Impact of Generics on MS Treatment
Medications used to treat MS have all been developed relatively recently, are still, which means that the majority of them are still patent protected. Until these patents expire, no generics can be manufactured and brand name medications are the only option. As the patents for these extremely expensive

Ampyra
I had taken 4-AP in compounded form years ago but did not feel much difference. I started Ampyra ER 2 months ago and have been a little surprised. I don't walk much (falling results in bone breaks) but I do exercise on a recumbent elliptical and use leg weight machines. Huge difference in strength

Neuro appointment
I had a fantastic appointment with my neurologist on Tuesday! You may remember I got to see my original one again. It was so much better! I spent an hour with him going over what we’d done the last six years, which was pretty much nothing. He wasn’t impressed. When he had me walk down the hall I’d

What to do with remaining supply?
I went off of ampyra but still have a 90 day supply of unopened bottles. Seems like a waste to just throw it away.

Living with MS
I was diagnosed with Ms in 2012. I was on the Medication Rebif and had to change because it was not working for me. Now I'm on Gilenya and it seems to be working for me. My neurologist put me on Ampyra to help with my walking also. It seems that the Ampyra assistance program was terminated Dec.

Ampyra benefits both cognition and physical functioning
I suspected it would and when it first was approved I contacted the pharma company that sells Ampyra asking if they had studies supporting this. They said they did not and that they opted to stay a niche MS drug used for improving walking speed. The mechanism of action is increased nerve conduction speed

Ampyra
Anyone out there taking Ampyra but getting it thru their financial assistance program? As of December 31, they have terminated the program because there is going to be a generic version mid 2018, so they say. No one can tell me who will make it, what it will be called or even if my Medicare Part D Rx

Ampyra
Has anyone tried Amprya for walking? My neuro suggested I try it but I've not done so yet because the side affects seem so terrible.

Family who refuse to accept you have MS and demand you do what they want
My mother didn't find out until Feb 2016 that I had MS. If I had my way she would never had known. It would've never been discovered if I hadn't had a relapse. She found out when I went to get an AFO, the guy asked what my diagnosis was in front of her. I was diagnosis 7/2013. From 2013 to present

Ampyra Question
I've been on Ampyra since November 2016. I am also on Aubagio. I have RRMS and thankfully, other than episodes, I am fairly functionally and hope to stay that way as long as this 62 year old body allows. I was shocked by the quick turnaround in my body once I started Ampyra. For years, I have been unsteady

Ampyra
Anyone on Ampyra? Does it help you with walking? I started a two month trial. Only been on a few days. FYI: the company will give you a two month trial if your doctor requests it. They also have an assistant program. I understand the cost is $2,000 or above a month.
