Durogesic

I’ve been on Durogesic Patches 50-75mcg for over 10yrs now. Take OralMorph for break through pain or when withdrawing from Patches in last day before changing patch. My Rheumy wants me to come off Opioids. He’s going to try referring to Poisons Unit to get help from them.

I managed to get some good fentanyl patches called Durogesic. 6 weeks later having slept upto 17 hours a day, I started to feel much better and took myself off the patches. I've lasted a week on low dose cocodamol. I want to set off fireworks to celebrate my return to almost normal!

Later on i got a Hernia and the doc put me on Durogesic, strangely my RLs dissapeared completely, untill i stopped with the durogesic. It came back to me in Horror mode! My life became unbearable! The doc gave me durogesic again + Sifrol. My RLS got away within hours!

The fentanyl worked for the first 12hrs then tailed off quickly and caused skin irritation even though I was on Durogesic so my gp has put me on 40mg MST as he does not rate fentanyl as a long term pain killer anyway as they build up tolerance quickly and he rather take them off me now before I get severe

I eventually got given durogesic patches which for me were life changing as it meant that i could cope with the pain but still feel normal. I am now 7 years down the line and still using patches however i got refered back to a pain clinic as i needed the doesage increased.

I have just been informed by my G.P & Local Health Board that they intend changing me from my normal Durogesic fentanyl patches to something called matrifen patches.

I take each day or as prescribed, Dtrans durogesic patches 25mg every 72 hours (morphine) cocodamol 30/500 as required pregablin 150mg twice a day diclofenac 75mg SR twice a day furosemide 20mg once a day cipramax 20mg once per day zopliclone 7.5mg as required salbutamol inhaler as required
