To check for accuracy, the research team found that two years after the study, 17 of the 20 PD participants had started and responded well to
dopamine
therapy, suggesting the original PD diagnoses were correct. What Does It Mean?

PM WEBINAR 4 "GUT FEELINGS"
Can gut function tell us something about
dopamine
levels in the brain? Why does gut function mirror the brain? And most importantly, is the gut an early warning system for the brain? Can simple tests of gut function predict Parkinson's ahead of motor symptoms?

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), good, bad or useless?
I've only had PD diagnosed for three years (Now 47 then 44) and have been rattling through the meds -
Dopamine
Agonists really didn't agree with me (I tried every one) I put on 20kg (lost it now), breathing problems and ended up in hospital.

Someone recently mentioned that " experts" were moving away from the
dopamine
involvement theory with rls....can anyone elaborate on this or direct me to where I could get more info....I've searched the webby thing and can't find anything.

Get the wine out the red wine!!
In laboratory experiments, they exposed neural cells to a neurotransmitter called
dopamine
, which in large amounts can induce cell death. However, neurons treated with resveratrol before being exposed to
dopamine
survived.

The Parkinson Earthquake and Tsunami
When the first
dopamine
producing nerve cells are lost in the substantia nigra it is the start of a slowly building earthquake. The earthquake occurs in the middle of the ocean so it is not initially detected.

who wants to see links to "spinal cord excitability" in people with RLS?? :) putting it here instead of in the 48 responses on "Dopamine"
I am putting the links here, so they do not get buried in that question and all the responses under the "
Dopamine
" question. 1. "Excitability of Spinal Flexor Reflex" www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10762502 2.

Diary of a week with RLS - what I am taking to show my GP next week
My wife researched meds given for L/itus and they are
Dopamine
antagonists and react with pramipexole which is a
Dopamine
agonist. They make the RLS much much worse apparently and I proved this was so without knowing why until the following morning! Worked Tuesday although extremely tired.

One from science news
., at Genzyme, a biotechnology company, wondered whether boosting GBA enzyme levels might prevent the harmful clumping of alpha-synuclein in the brain that kills
dopamine
-producing brain cells, leading to PD symptoms.

Wow what a find !!
But it hasn't been clear how LRRK2 mutations lead to the defining microscopic sign of Parkinson's: the formation of abnormal protein aggregates inside
dopamine
-producing nerve cells of the brain.

What you gonna do? Sleep? Forsooth! (Parts 1 & 2 & End)
The more you ask to open up the Gates of
Dopamine
, the more they do open. The more you Scrooge around, the more you become Scrooge, himself! Try to reduce your self-generated stress first. THIS MEANS YOU…Let up on yourself already!

Follow up to my last post
My wife looked this up and it is described as follows- Prochlorperazine (Compazine, Stemzine, Buccastem, Stemetil, Phenotil) is a
dopamine
(D2) receptor antagonist that belongs to the phenothiazine class of antipsychotic agents that are used for the antiemetic treatment of nausea and vertigo.

My Pd meds sent me to HELL for 6 years, I believe drug companies know about this, I took part in tests during and after and again this year!
Dopamine
agonists work by increasing brain levels of
dopamine
, a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers.

Dopamine Level Evaluation
I was wondering if there is a reliable test to determine
Dopamine
level in blood. Some doctors don't know even what that is. Thanks

New breakthrough, skin cells to brain cells, with implications for PD
Neurodegenerative diseases are caused by defects in certain neurons, In Parkinson's the neurons stop producing
dopamine
.. Transplantations of fresh neurons could cure the disease, or at least relieve symptoms for many years. More to follow

Green tea fights off depression
It also alters levels of neurotransmitters in the brain such as serotonin and
dopamine
that can affect moods. It's also believed that the theanines in green tea may help to reduce symptoms of anxiety. Despite the caffeine content, many people feel mellow after drinking a cup of green tea.
