A year ago today, still waiting for some good news.
Now in the right direction, immediately start Lupron and
Docetaxel
chemo. After about the 4th chemo treatment the MO told me my PSA wasn't responding like it should and wasn't dropping as low as he would like, and had actually gone up since the last PSA test.

Recent diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer. Where to begin?
The dr wants to start hormone therapy this week and chemo (
docetaxel
) every three weeks for 6 treatments. We don’t live far from Mayo in Rochester and are thinking of traveling for a second opinion. I’m sure you all started like we are...lost.

Immunotherapy for Prostate Cancer: Where Do We Go From Here?—PART 1: Prostate Cancer Vaccines
VITAL-2, which compared the combination of GVAX and
docetaxel
to
docetaxel
and prednisone was also stopped after an interim analysis showed an increased risk of death in the GVAX arm.[22] Clinical development of GVAX was ultimately halted.

Latest update
At the time of my profile creation, I was receiving Lupron shots every three months and in the middle 6 cycles of Chemotherapy (
docetaxel
i.e., Taxotere). The chemo treatment ended in March 2017 with full expectation to follow it up with radiation treatments.

Chronic?
I went the
Docetaxel
route to start the show. Currently the buzz is starting the show with Zytiga. You would think that the world of oncology developed something new. Ha! They simply shuffled the deck. I know soon I will be swallowing Zytiga pills and when that stops being effective, on to Xtandi.

What is meant when told that a met has been "resolved" after a mid-chemo CT scan?
Last fall, however, my PSA had risen to 16.8, and I commenced combined hormone therapy (Lupron) and chemotherapy (
docetaxel
) in late December 2017.

Need to decide path forward... which way to go?
Discussed the additional recommendation of adding Zytiga/prednisone (STAMPEDE) or
docetaxel
(also STAMPEDE) to hormonal therapy in node positive disease setting; overall survival benefit is noted.

"Pig Pen rides again-Or Docetaxel is skin poison.
Every move I make leaves a visible cloud of skin flakes floating behind me. I didn't know a person could shed enough skin to turn your dark colored underwear white and have an actual cloud float around you.. You can after 9 cycles of Chemo. Two weeks into this cycle and I'm just starting to function

I am new here, I am from Australia, I have extensive mets.
Last year I had 6 courses of
Docetaxel
which was not fun.The PSA has been about 5 to 7 for 3 months. The PSA at diagnosis was 512. A recent PSMA/Pet/CT shows a lot of assymptomatic PSMA avid disease. I will have my first dose of Lutetium 177 PSMA in 2 weeks.

Quality of Life in Second-Line Treatment of Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate
Found a very interesting article on a trial done in Switzerland regarding quality of life in MCRPC patients who took different second-line treatments after ADT and
Docetaxel
chemotherapy. So many of the guidelines for second-line treatments I've found refer to "Chemotherapy-Naive" patients.

Rechallenge with Xtandi
Last chemo
Docetaxel
/Carboplatin chemo cycle was 1/9/18 and PSA had fallen from 10.8 to .4. While on my chemo break, PSA started to rise again, so about 2 1/2 weeks ago, we decided to give Xtandi a second chance.

Burden of Metastatic Castrate Naive Prostate Cancer Patients, to Identify Men More Likely to Benefit from Early Docetaxel.
Low-volume patients have longer overall survival with ADT alone, and the toxicity of
docetaxel
may outweigh its benefits." Does "low" end where "high" begins? Or is there a fuzzy middle-volume area, where patients & doctors are going to agonize over whether to use

CA-phenyl ester (CAPE) enhances anti-proliferative and cytotoxic effects of
docetaxel
(DOC) and paclitaxel (PTX) in PCa cells attributed to CAPE augmentation of DOC and PTX proapoptotic effects in addition to CAPE-induced alterations in estrogen receptors (ER)-α and ER-β abundance [23,24].
