BioBran and/or beta-glucan
So, soon after starting chemo (
docetaxel
) I took 3 gm a day (used in most of the trials) and am convinced that it reduced the side effects of chemo. Once chemo was finished, I reduced to 1 gm a day. The only down side is that BioBran is expensive, around £10 a day for 3 gm.

Docetaxel and Circulating tumor cells
Currently on Lupron, prednisone,
docetaxel
and neulasta. I seem to be weathering the chemo pretty well and the PSA for what it’s worth has gone down from 51 to 31 after the first round of chemo. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Lupron + Docetaxel w/o Zytiga
His recommendation thus far is: Casodex one week for T-flare, then Lupron and 6 cycles of
Docetaxel
. I would love to hear what everyone thinks about this plan.........What additional questions should I be prepared to ask about this protocol?

Suggestions to prevent Chemotherapy side effects
Casodex began today.......Lupron shot and first cycle of
Docetaxel
next Thursday. So of course, I have more questions.......SORRY! Is there anything we can do to help prevent chemo side effects? I have ordered CRYOMAX cold packs for hands and feet to try to help with neuropathy.

Where did I go wrong (or did I)?- first chemo
My first (Taxotere/
Docetaxel
) chemotherapy treatment is over. I want to bring up the "Chemo Crash" that seems to happen on the 3-4 days. It was hell! The best I could do was lay in bed that whole time. Head felt like in a vise, big time flu feeling, aching joints.

Abiraterone or Docetaxel: Which Is Optimal for Hormone-Sensitive High-Risk Prostate Cancer?
Today at my Med Onc visit I was given the choice of adding either Abiraterone or Doxetaxel to my just initiated androgen-deprivation therapy. They said at this point there is no real definitive studies as to which is superior and either would be an fine. The expense of Abiraterone would be a consideration

Hormone refractory already?
Started ADT jabs right away and 3-monthly since, had 6 rounds of
docetaxel
from Jan to April. Nearly 4 months on, I have regained energy, walking, gardening, taking the usual supplements, etc, and feeling fine. PSA was down to 2.5 in March, 1.8 April, 1.9 May.

Painful joints
Husband has been on
docetaxel
and ADT. His knees have been bothering him for the past four weeks. Does anyone have an effective glucosamine to recommend ? Or some other approach to this problem? Thank you!

Dad's blood results for the whole year
He immediately went on Lupron and then had 6 cycles of
Docetaxel
in November/December 2017 and some radiation on the two significant mets on his spine. He also switched from Lupron to Transdermal Oestradiol (patches) as part of the STAMPEDE study in November 2017.

Chemo #4 update
Had my 4th
docetaxel
, PSA is down to 0.8, (500 at DX on March, 23 prior to treatment start). Here's a history, each taken on the chemo day: 5/1 5/23 6/15 7/6 4.34 1.94 1.13 0.80 I like the absolute number, but drop rate is slowing down. Still minimum chemo side-effects.

Treatment update
Treated with Firmagon, Xgeva, Casodex, Prednisone and
Docetaxel
. Fingers still numb and fingernails a mess from the Chemo. When Chemo ended, switched to Lupron and Zytiga. PSA went untetectable before the end of Chemo and has remained that way. Scans look as clean as they can.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I have been treated with androgen deprivation therapy, radiation, enzaludamide for 16 months, chemotherapy (
docetaxel
) that did not work and now am on radium 223. After 6 treatments of the radium, I will be put on another chemotherapy called cabazitaxel.

Melatonin - Review.
Combined with chemotherapeutic agents (etoposide, doxorubicin, or
docetaxel
), melatonin (1 mM) enhanced the sensitivity of cancer cells to cytokine-induced apoptosis in vitro [92].
