New to post any am worried also I have CKD Stage 3 but doctor says I am fine for now. Don't understand that
Shouldn't my doctor have me seeing a kidney specialist - can I have
dialysis
with only one kidney or see a dietitian for a proper diet. I worry all of the time but doc says I'm okay.

Doctor and/or Dialysis tech Burnout?
The only cure off of
dialysis
is a transplant. But in California its 10 years at least. Thats like having cancer for 10 years. Innovation hasn't changed in 60 years, its super expensive and time consuming, taxpayers are paying
dialysis
costs through medicare.

My Father is ready to give up on dialysis
He also has a hard time understanding that he truly needs
dialysis
since he still is able to urinate multiple times a day. He feels as if he only needs
dialysis
about 2 days a week and he feels better when he doesn’t go.

Hello I'm Andrew and have just 'Found' you.
I had a Kidney transplant, in July 2013, after four years on
Dialysis
- three times a week. I attend Headway Essex, twice a week- Tuesdays & Thursdays. Tuesdays, the Group Splits, with The most Wheelchair Bond attenders going to 'Bounce-ability'.

Feeling sad after transplant - (I'm new here)
I had a transplant almost 5 months ago and thought I would be super happy by now, especially after a year on
dialysis
. Instead I've been feeling quite sad and kind of like I'm in a rut.

A preemptive kidney transplant?
At the time I was referred for transplant by my nephrologist because my GFR was 16 and we both thought
dialysis
was looming. I started the process and went through all the testing required to be listed. Early this week I heard from my transplant coordinator, I am now listed.

Tips for Complying with Renal Diet
Hi, I am at GFR of 10 and preparing to soon go for PD catheter surgery so I can start
dialysis
. I met with several renal dietitians. So far, they are giving me information pamphlets with list of food items that are high in sodium, in potassium and in phosphorus.

Trying to sort out the facts behind protein intake and CKD
In addition, I was told during my
dialysis
orientation (not on
dialysis
yet() that when I start peritoneal
dialysis
. they will ask me to consume 1.3 g/kg weight per day. I see a number of people advocating plant based diets,. so I asked my nephrologist about this.

Good news
She said back then to prepare for
dialysis
within six months. I had been progressively declining monthly. Went from stage 3 to 4 within a short time. I am so thrilled to report my labs today from the last three months were wonderful. Improvement across the board. GFR up one point.

Any Advice?
I still have scars on my stomach from the catheters and whatever else I was hooked up to (I'm assuming
dialysis
). I'm told I have or had Hemolytic Euremic Syndrome.

Gfr 10....choosing conservative management
After considering age and other medical problems, my husband has decided on conservative management instead of
dialysis
. Is it possible to hold at 10 or even rebound a little for a while? Also, the nephrologist suggested Renadyl. Anyone have experience with that? Thanks for any response.

Thank you all
Update: all family members all agreed that mom will not have
dialysis
in the future... Due to her age; turning 80 plus other conditions that she has, we feel that
dialysis
will not benefit her. I also thank and pray the lord to watch, guide, protect all of you.
