Good morning everyone! I haven't Post in a while I've been kind of reading the comments but I remember when I first posted on this site, I was a stage 4 kidney failure. Now I'm at stage 5 my GFR is 9% I am monitored weekly by my neuphrologist I have not started dialysis yet. I did switch my PCP doctor because they was not following up with my referrals I am a diabetic I'm a 48 year-old black female type 2. My doctor referred me to an endocrinologist, and some other referrals that his staff didn't even follow up on. Went to the doctors back in March and she took my blood pressure with the wrong blood pressure cup I explained to her did you going to get an inaccurate reading she preceded like she didn't even care and then told me 117 / 64 we're going to just use that. I'm not going to give the doctor's office name but it is here in Indianapolis and it is part of the American Health Network. One thing I will say I did change doctors and I understand what diabetes do to the body my sugars have been running up and down my A1C now is 8% however when meeting with the new doctors she went over everything with me it said it's a great possibility that might kidneys fail because of the number of insulin that is going in my body. She did not send me to an endocrinologist I am going to a pharmacist that specializes in diabetes and I do have to say she is great now within the Two Weeks span I've been with her. She has started me on New insulins which now my sugars are low and now she's weaving me off of some of the incident I've been on I am so excited praise be to God I don't like taking a lot of medicines but I thank God for her and I wish she had been found sooner than now.

Hi Rene,
I am glad you changed up your doctor and are getting better care. You have to be our own advocate, which it sounds like you are. I hope they can help you get your sugar down. I had a doctor put me on a diabetes drug and my sugar went out of control. I put myself back on what I was on and they stabilized. But diet is what has brought my A1C down to a normal range. I would follow up yourself with the endocrinologist and also see about getting a dietician referral. Keep letting us know how you are doing.
Yes I been to a dietitian already I've done some really good and take one dietitian was really good she suggested the vegan diet and then the other one is the diabetic I sold their diets are working far as the endocrinologist I was with an endocrinologist that's the one that put me on all that insulin 45 milliliters of Levemir and then also human locked 10 in each meal apparently was too much insulin going in my body at one time which my body was not responding to it which the new pharmacist clinician that also specializes in diabetes has put me on the tresiba and the trulicity seems to work really well, I am shocked! and I'm no longer on Humalog or novolog.
Rene70: You are absolutely right and you are doing right. Getting a good doctor including his/her office team and pharmacist is terribly important, and there are no easy ways to find out, notwithstanding ratings, rankings and listing in awards. Word of mouth is a little more helpful. God bless you. Jerem
