SRT with hormonal therapy, I need your help!
The MO (Jasek Pinski, MD) at USC Noris Cancer Centre, told me that he will put me on monthly injections of
Degarelix
(Firmagon) for 6 months and the RO will start the SRT 6-7 weeks after the first injection, he said that this will shutdown T level quickly and help the effectiveness of Raiation therapy

Are there any studies of those switching from Lupron to Degarelix or an orchiectomy due to cardiac risks of Lupron?
My husband's PSA is doubling on Zytiga and he cannot go back on Lupron due to the severe cardiac risk. Options given are an orchiectomy or back on Lupron. They are also looking for a genetic possiblity. He's been off Lupron since June of last year and on Zytiga alone. Last three Psa levels are doubling

Drug Resistence
However it appears he has become Zytiga and or
Degarelix
resistant. PSA Feb 25th was 22 and PSA March 25th is 24. He used Casodex on his first hormone blockade run in March 2014. He is Chemotherapy and Radiation naive.

Time to ADT Failure
I am wondering what the time is from starting ADT (Eligard, Lupron,
degarelix
, etc.) till the PCa becoming castrate resistant. I read a recent post from “whatsinaname” where his failed after only 6 months. Is that an outlier on the short side, or typical?

Best ADT for CVD?
Now for ADT I thought
Degarelix
would be the best choice regarding CVD. They propose Zoladex + Casodex instead. And adding Zytiga could be even more dangerous for CVD, so I am not sure we should begin with it, since he is getting "curative" radiation. What are your thoughts or experiences?

Metformin?
Is anyone here with metastatic stage 4 hormone naive (not yet castration resistant) PCa taking Metformin, in addition to ADT (Lupron or Eligard or
degarelix
)? If so what are your observations regarding effectiveness? Thank-you.

My husband has been on Lupron or
Degarelix
as well as Xgeva for most of these years, after an unsuccessful RP. We are glad to find this site as well as others to support one another. I will post his stats at a later posting. Regards, BOOGEE

Slight Psa increase
My husband had his bloods, zometa and
degarelix
injection today, while we were with the macmillan nurse she gave my husband his January psa result, it was slightly raised from 0.13 to 0.16, was told it was nothing to worry about, but that's easier said than done now we have to wait till next month

Initial Diagnosis PCa Stage 4 Mets to Bone (Pelvis)
On
degarelix
3 months then switched to Lupron 1 week ago and will continue, for convenience of multi month injection, if PSA continues to lower past current 2.xx (originally 8.xx at diagnosis). Scheduled for IMRT in early April as part of a trial.

Degarelix?
Has anyone used this Hormone treatment drug? My doctor seems to recommend this as easier to manage than some of the other drugs. Any thoughts?

Looks great, but think Xtandi is coming to an end.
Has done docetaxel, casodex,
degarelix
. Can’t do surgery. Can do radiation for urinary symptoms. He was supposed to start this week but we’re putting off bc we got into a dr at UTSW on Wednesday. Don’t even really know what I’m asking. Lost. Confused. Sad. Scared. Not sure what’s next.

New Here - Wife with Stage IV Hubby
After a month on
degarelix
(now switched to lupron), zytiga, and prednisone, his PSA dropped to 1.9 and alk phos down to 700's. Apart from some hot flashes the first few weeks and the usual sex drive loss that comes from suppressing testosterone, he's doing great.

It consists of a shot of
Degarelix
once a month in the stomach along with 4 pills of apalutamide with prednisone and 4 pills of abiraterone with prednisone once a day. Quick summery of my condition. Diagnosed in 2014 (age 47) PSA of 22. Biopsy showed 12 cores positive. Gleason 8.
