DBS — What questions to ask the DBS neurosurgeon?
I have an appointment with the
DBS
neurosurgeon next week for evaluation before the surgery, should I decide. I’ve already had the brain MRI and the Neuropsych evaluation. I’m 70 yrs old, female, 86 lbs, and diagnosed 6 1/2 yrs ago. I’m on C/L only, one tablet, 3 times daily.

45 mins conversation with dr. Jeanmonod regarding FUS
It is estimated for long time by analogy with
DBS
. The first FUS was done in 2011 but they traced the people who had FUS starting 5-6 years ago and they are ok. 5. If he considers I do not need a surgery now but I want it , no matter, is that possible? No!

DBS doesn't seem to work?
I had
DBS
surgery 2 month ago and had 2 programming sessions, but still far from feeling any better. I can say, My tremors and distonia on presurgery status, taking much more medication than before and still having bad days (mostly of them). Does it mean failure of
DBS
? I don't know what to do.

COLOFAC
I wonder whether anyone else has experienced problems with Colofac. Although it was helpful with the pain and distension it always culminated in faecal impaction. Merbentyl was found to be more satisfactory but it was removed from my list of medications because of its inhibitive cost. I have managed

Focused Ultrasound Therapy, FDA-approved for Essential Tremors
• Compared to RF ablation or
DBS
, focused ultrasound offers a reduced risk of infection, of damage to the non-targeted area, and of blood clot formation. • Focused ultrasound offers rapid resolution of symptoms.

New pinprick blood test for Covid-19 antibodies.
Dried blood spot (
DBS
) samples have been used since the 1960s to test newborn babies for inherited disorders. The antibody test puts a single drop of blood from a skin prick onto specialized filter paper cards which can be sent for laboratory testing.

Sensitivite intestine causing extreme 'off-time' esp after opening bowels
I'm on the waiting list for
DBS
but won't get the surgery until early next year. I'm surely hope this will resolve or reduce in some way. Does anyone else experience similarities?? Thx, Damo

Melatonin For Parkinson's Disease (Pt. 2)
I have just gathered what I thought were relevant studies in order to show the potential that melatonin may offer PwP as a potential treatment and how it might do that, given the limited prospects currently available short of
DBS
or FUS, which are cost prohibitive for the uninsured and underinsured.

Spinal Cord Stimulation Alleviates Parkinson’s Pain in Small Study
Spinal cord stimulation can effectively decrease pain, and also may help alleviate motor symptoms, in people with Parkinson’s disease (PD), regardless of whether patients have previously undergone deep brain stimulation, a small study suggests. https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com/2020/10/02/spinal-cord-stimulation-alleviates-parkinsons-pain-small-study-suggests
