COLOFAC

I wonder whether anyone else has experienced problems with Colofac. Although it was helpful with the pain and distension it always culminated in faecal impaction. Merbentyl was found to be more satisfactory but it was removed from my list of medications because of its inhibitive cost. I have managed without anything since then, as Colofac was the only alternative (I had tried all the other options!). Now, every three or four weeks, I have a terrible time with quite serious impaction (hard, dry, enormous motion) and fear I cannot take much more! I am 77 and have angina and asthma. Lactulose is useful on these occasions but causes many problems of pain and distension.
