One year post mastectomy.
Well one year is arriving. This time last time year I saw my consultant with the results of a second biopsy. I had already decided on a mastectomy and had accepted a date at the time of first biopsy confirmation of Grade 2 breast cancer. The second biopsy also was confirmed cancer and was told I needed

Anyone here diagnosed with secondary cancer after chemo and radiation for prostate cancer?
Iāve been reading lately about secondary cancers associated with chemotherapy (platinum more often than taxane) and radiation treatment for solid tumors such as prostate cancer. We are dealing with a very resistant type of prostate cancer and as a result, my husband has had carboplatin, docetaxel, Lupron

Up and down thyroid since radiation
Iām sorry to ask again as I know Iāve asked before and gotten wonderful answers. My Tsh in last months labs was going back into normal range so I assumed this month I would be even more in the normal range or even higher indicating hypothyroidism, however my Tsh went back down. Is that normal for it

Management of the Metastases in Oligometastatic Prostate Cancer
Until recently, there has been very little data supporting non-cranial stereotactic body radiotherapy as metastasis-directed therapy. However, in 2019 the SABR-COMET study was published in The Lancet.1 This randomized, open-label Phase II study was done at 10 hospitals in Canada, the Netherlands, Scotland

10 month after Radiotherapy
1.5 years after RP and 10 months after radiotherapy I finally have ideal findings. PSA <0.003, testosterone 7.8. I went through a lot and now it's time to enjoy the findings a bit. I would like to thank everyone for the advice, it really helps a lot. I got all kinds of advice from all sides, but here

Adding radiation therapy to prostate cancer surgery has been a tough call. New science eases the dilemma
The meta-analysis, which included 2,153 patients followed for an average of five years, found that 88% of men who held off on radiation did not have a relapse, compared to 85% who had radiation soon after surgery. Among those who held off, 67% still didn't need radiation up to eight years later. Urinary

Gynae Cancer Narratives Project - Can you help?
Can you help a collaborative research team, from Lancaster University and the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, better understand how radiotherapy affects social, sexual and personal lives? If you have ever received radiotherapy for gynaecological cancer or supported someone who has received radiotherapy

Any problems with unsupportive friends post-cancer?
I've felt my friends drift away over the past three years, I know I've been difficult to be with... No-one can understand that even after the all-clear, nothing is the same again. At 61 now, I've been through the menopause twice now - radiotherapy caused the second menopause, which was horrible. But,

Update on Lumpy and treatment
hi all! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! I am relishing it. The house is empty, I have coffee and my kitty by my side and I'm not budging until I have to. I am half way thru a radiation treatment on my inguinal node!! The node has shrunk to where I'm barely able to feel it now. I have no side effects

Post rectal radiotherapy
I gave just finished a 28 day cycle of radiotherapy for a rectal tumour accompanied by oral chemotherapy (Capecitebine) It has given me severe proctitis and tenesmus which started after the third week. Has anyone suffered with this? How long does it last? Any tips for managing it?

CA125 increasing, no symptoms, 7 years remission
My mother was diagnosed with stage 3C endometrial cancer. She underwent TAHBSO, had 6 cycles of chemo and 25 sessions of radiotherapy. Then we had monitoring. Everything is well until 2years ago, her CA125 started to increase. It will increase by 6, then decreas by 2 on the next check. I was worried.

Clinical Trial of Selpercatinib Shows Strong Response for Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.
An international team of researchers has found that selpercatinib, a drug that precisely targets cancers driven by mutations or alterations in the gene RET, was effective at shrinking tumours in patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with a majority of patients living for more than a year without
