some heart issues…
Last week I went to the ER with chest pains, on recommendation of my oncologist’s office. I’m on doublet therapy (Orgovyx and Abiraterone/Prednisone), and the drug info said to contact a doctor in case of chest pains. Of course, by the time I got in there I was feeling better, but they did a EKG and

I’m 70 with heart disease that I am being treated for. No heart attacks. Is the C25K plan available in a modified program for people like me or is the regular plan ok?

Discharged ...boo!
Hi I've had my report through the post of my recent phone appointment and, as I suspected after the conversation ended ,I have been discharged from Proff Osmans clinic. Thinking about it,I'm concerned. I have had an AF event on 6/6/24 and another 30/7/24 which I was able to eventually stop with an extra

Afib and bradycardia
Hi, I have paroxysmal afib with episodes lasting about 24 hours every 14 to 21 days on average. My daily resting heart rate measured on my Fitbit watch ranges from 41 to 50. After an episode of mild but obvious palpitations it rises to about 50 but falls back to the low 40s after a few days. If I exercise

To Dial 999 or Not
Last Thursday was a horrible day. I had a message left on my answerphone from my older sister, who has slight learning difficulties. She said, "Jean I have a pain in my chest and feel terrible", then she was in tears. I immediately called her back and asked which side the pain was, it was her left. Asked

Stopped Flecainide
I have suffered with AF since 2012. At first it was paroxsysmal but in the last year it has become 'permanent'. I was taking Flecainide for many years but my cardiologist has said that since AF is now permanent there is no point in taking Flecainide to control the uncontrollable! However since coming

Problems after cardioversion
I had a successful cardioversion three days ago and I am still in sinus rhythm with a heart rate of 48. A year ago, I had breathing problems which were resolved quickly with digoxin. However, yesterday the breathing problems returned with my a tight chest, a choking sensation when walking and wheezing

The amazing Kidney
Unlike most with
CKD
, I am not diabetic. It seems that a plant based low protein diet is the only known way to maintain what’s left of my kidney function so I’m always looking for diet information from those in the same boat.

So, I have just finished my phone consultation. I had my list of questions which I wasn't able to put over to the Consultant without being accused of being rude. This is how it went before I forget: My symptoms as they appear at the moment do not entitle me to any thing other than a 3 day ECG monitor

what is the best blood thinner for afib
I was using Flacinide for treating my a fibs as a pill in the pocket. (10 years) Then I caught diabetes and had something happened that made the Flacinide not work to end afib attacks. Now doctors want me on blood thinners. They chose Metropolol for helping with a fibs but not sure what is choice for

Heart attack
Hi. Not really sure what to put. I had a heart attack on the 31st of July. And a stent fitted. I was discharged on the 8th of August. My life style was not great as I'm in recovery and use to abuse steroids. Am trying not to beat my self up to much as I'm scared and very anxious. I.never thought when

Dalfampridine (Ampyra)
I was wondering if anybody with ALD/AMN in the UK was using Dalfampridine (Ampyra) to help with walking? I believe that it was initially an MS drug but it is now being used around the world. As I understand it, it is approved for Wales and Scotland but not for England.

Telephone Consultation
I have a telephone consultation with the Cardio team this Thursday, my first one. I have had a 24 hour heart monitor, an ECG and a chest x-ray all of which have come back as normal, yet the palpitations have become much worse in the last month that when I'm having one, I can barely speak and it feels

Ablate and pace
I started with left sided atrial flutter which responded well to cardioversion and kept me symptom free for nearly two years. I have stage one heart block so when I started to get occasional further episodes I had a pacemaker fitted so my dose of Bisoprolol could be increased from 1.25mg to 5mg daily

feeling down
This morning, my blood pressure spiked to over 180/90 again, and so I went back to the hospital. This time, I had to go to the GP assessment unit. My blood pressure came down to 152/85, so they let me go home, with a prescription for Ramipril 2.5gm to take, if my blood pressure stays at 180 or above
