Why do they make me worry, get depressed and cause so much unhappiness
I am a 47 year old man, living on the south coast. I worked hard all my life, up until 10 tears ago. In 2000 I had a bout of Bronchitis. This got worse and turned into full blown terrible pneumonia. I was coughing terribly, and feeling simply terrible. I was totally shattered,

Persistent cough
I am in my 50s and have had asthma since I was a very small child. Most of my adult life it hasn't bothered me much at all and I haven't even had to take a regular preventer. A couple of years ago I had a cold which resulted in a cough that never really went away. It got to the point where I bearly

Great news!
I was having a lot of back pains so I had a chest x-ray a week ago. Got my results this morning and I've got the all clear. (Apart from the emphysema of course). I'm so pleased as I was a bit worried. It's just the 'normal' sort of pains COPD can cause. Lynne x

Has this happened to You?
Some years ago, approx' eight, I went for a chest x-ray at Leeds General Infirmary, and was asked if I did any type of sports as my x-ray showed I had distended lungs; I reckon what gave my reply away was the the little smirk on my face which proclaimed - "Are you joking!" Any type of sports activity

New diagnosis.
Hi, I'm new here & currently going through a diagnosis process, but my Doctor is fairly set on his opinion that I am asthmatic. He's asked me to get a chest X-Ray done as he thinks I have a mild crackling right lung, so wants to check for an infection there. I also have to go back for a Spirometry

Drugs at last!
I am finally going to start on a new drug - Humira - can't wait! I've heard good things about it and know that some of you are familiar with these anti TNF drugs. I had to stop Methotrexate 9 months ago because of raised liver enzymes so have been having varying degrees of joint pain ever since. I had

Scarring on lungs
I saw my gp today, my results from my repeat chest x-ray has come back. I have scarring on my lungs. Pulmonory fibrosis I think its call. I'm in my 30s, had tb when I was 9. The pulmonary fibrosis is the reason I had a 5 month long dry cough.

Last Week - Redoing week 5
Since I ended up only being able to do one run of week 5 last week due to being in London one day and my phone ringing off the hook all morning on another day, I've decided to start week 5 over and do it this week instead. (whoo, run on sentence!) Doing this puts me a full week behind, but it just

Can anyone help - my friend has some worrying symptoms and she asked me to ask you all for any advice
She has just had her first round of tests that show a positive for lupus. She hasn't seen the rheumy yet. My friend writes: "I live in Weston-Super-Mare, the hospital I was taken to is Weston General and I haven't been able to see a rheumatologist there despite asking... and ending up there twice!

Hi Everyone! Can anyone help with this query. I have googled and asked but cannot find an answer! I had my first ever spirometry test 2 days ago, I am 49 and a smoker. Test was arranged as I have episodes of waking in the early hours with wheezing or coughing although pretty much ok at other times of

When I were a girl……
That’s a phrase I would often hear when I was a kid, if ever I started to complain about something, that phrase would come out along with tales of find your way around in Manchester smog, post-war rationing, bed-sharing with older sisters and other such tales of growing up in a working class northern

I have recently discovered I have COPD and want to share my thoughts with you. Please read my below comments. Thank you for your help.
It is only by chance that I came across the health unlocked site which I found in the course of my looking for a reasonable answer. I am 84 years old and for the last 4 years I have been complaining of shortness of breath. My cardiologist who is monitoring my condition after I went through an aorta dissection

Does anyone have any experience of paraneoplastic syndromes, or on how to raise concerns you stumble across with medical experts?
As a bit of background, My dad was diagnosed with stage 2 nsclc on 20 June and is due to go for a lobectomy on 24 July. The surgeon has explained he has to take a look with a camera first before committing to the full surgery as he needs to know if the fluid showing on his lung contains cancer cells

THANKS FOR BEING THERE
My lovely family & friends, To those of you with whom I met recently it must have been obvious that my health is taking a dive - hopefully temporary. Having your love & support has helped keep me going. At the moment I am having bouts of severe pain which causes me to be a pain. Last night we had to
