Great news!

I was having a lot of back pains so I had a chest x-ray a week ago. Got my results this morning and I've got the all clear. (Apart from the emphysema of course).

I'm so pleased as I was a bit worried. It's just the 'normal' sort of pains COPD can cause.

Great news, pain is always a worry so it is good to know it is nothing sinister.

That's a bit of good news, you can't help but worry when a different feeling or pain starts

Really pleased for you Lynn I was sent for a chest Xray also due to unexpected weight loss and really panicked so much so I didn't ask for the results and waited three long weeks for my next doctor's appointment. Was over the moon when it showed "only" emphysema, had half-heartedly stopped smoking by then but the fright and a recent disappointing spirometry test strengthened my resolve and after nine weeks believe I have finally stopped. Even beginning to feel less breathless (was a wreck and hard to live with when awaiting result). Glad that part is over for you too and thanks for posting this.

Well done Lavender on quitting. I have stopped smoking for 9 months now and I hardly ever think about them. Just wish I could lose the excess weight I put on when I stopped. I am dieting now, but its slow going (enjoying a glass of wine doesn't help, but i can't give up all my pleasures!).

I'm glad I bit the bullet and had it checked out.

Thanks everyone for you comments. I am relieved as I think we probably all fear the worst and I had put off going because of that, but in the end I gave myself a stiff talking too and just did it!

Thank you and I will. It's like having a fresh start. I am already planning my 60th in 2 years time which might well involve going to Canada again.
