High Cholesterol
I got a text message last night saying my routine blood
test
shows I have high
cholesterol
and advise going on statins. No mention of my thyroid results or anything else, so I'm guessing it's a routine text they send to anyone over the normal limit.

Feeling confused!
After hearing in a podcast about LP(a), I decided to get tested for it in view of a family history of aortic stenosis. The results of the test show that I do indeed have higher LP(a): 127nmol/L. The LDL Cholesterol is 3.5 nmol/L which is a red flag. However, all the other results are flagged green: ApoA1

Haven’t posted here in a while. I don’t know how to ask my GP about starting a statin as a preventive or even if it’s right.
. So tomorrow I have a GP appointment in person I’m from the UK so this is rare😂. So I’m 22, man, quite overweight, don’t smoke, don’t drink. Known disease hypothyroidism which I know does increase Lp(a) level’s especially how high mines been. But anyhow I sufffer with symptoms that seem heart related

Advice on statins and vascular atheroma please
Story so far.... Had a recent hospitalisation in Cyprus for a problem unconnected to the thyroid (acute diverticular episode after 30 years of no major issues) which resulted in me having to have a CT scan when I returned from holiday. The scan was OK on the original issue, nothing sinister revealed

Consider Statin Therapy? Is it necessary for a total cholesterol of 6 mmol/L?
I had my annual blood
test
, the total
cholesterol
is 6.0 mmol/L. My GP had put a comment in the results print out, " Consider Statin"?

weight, diet and statins?
I had a recent blood
test
and my GP picked up on my
cholesterol
level at 6.5 and wanted to start me on statins. I’m not keen (more bloody pills!) and we agreed to let me try to reduce it a bit myself first.

Any Tips/Advice for Vascular Surgery Appointment coming up…?
I have been referred to see Vascular Surgery and my appointment is in a few weeks. The physio I am seeing for neck and shoulder pain asked my GP to refer me due to frequent left sided pain in my neck arm and shoulder blade and also facial symptoms on left side. She wants to make sure there isn’t anything

Hi everyone, I recently started with bioidentixal HRt (oestrodose and Ultrogestan(progesterone). I have hashimotoes so do not eat soy or gluten. Having taken it for about a month I noticed the corners of my inner eyes red and inflamed which is what I get when I consume allergens. On researching I found

High Cholesterol and Hyperthyroidism
I have been diagnosed with high cholesterol 7.04 with my LDL being 5.2 My HDL and Triglyercerides are within range. My diet is very good except I eat good quality dairy and some red meat. I also exercise daily. I take Berberine and a fish oil daily. Diet only contributes about 10% of cholesterol
