Cataracts

Hi all, Im needing another cataract operation as the lens they put in 17 years ago has dislocated and dropped. Now I’m on Acalabrutinib will I have to stop taking it before the op and then after for a week or so, any experience would be appreciated, thanks Will

Morning, all, a quick question: I've got to have cataract surgery and I wondered how those of you with lupus - and particularly Sjorgren's - have dealt with this. Did you have any problems, especially with dry eyes? is there anything I should definitely do/not do? All experiences gratefully listened

I have also devised a simple test to see whether your are affecting your sight and will put that in another post. Don't take "your cataracts aren't ready for removal" as gospel.

Please read my earlier "Get Your Cataracts Treated" post first and, if it sounds as if you may be having a similar experience, you can use a simple test to see how your eyes compare with other people who don't have cataracts. The test determines how well you can read very faint type.

🧐Due to large doses of prednisolone my cataracts have grown. I can't lay flat on my back and breath ,,,,,. tried it once with almost disastrous consequences .... I need to sit upright in a chair., I know this happens , but where, and which NHS hospital. ???

I have had vision problems almost from the start -- blurry vision mostly, but now I have significant cataracts -- AND I've had to change my prescription 4 times since AUG 22. My cataracts are significant enough that surgery is being considered.

I have my R eye, my driving eye with wet AMD and the other L eye ( short sighted) with dry AMD I saw a new optician recently who suggested photobiomodulation on my good dry eye and cataract surgery for cortical cataracts with a lens helping my long distance ( but as a PP).

I have been told I have pseudo exfoliation syndrome, is it safe to have cataract surgery. The consultant I saw said I had 10times the risk. In the beginning I said no surgery, but my sight is blurred I have difficulty reading and watching TV.. any advice.

Have had two successful Trabs. and now have been advised that Cataracts are present and are beginning to cause a problem, but have been advised that cataract surgery may have negative effect on Trabs? Any experience of this situation out there?👍

Has anyone had their cataracts done . Was told it's not so good to have them done if you have Sjogrens as it can cause cornea problems.

My eyes were always fine until then, but within a year of taking Forstair I was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. My research suggests the steroid in the inhaler might be responsible, but it has been dismissed by my GP. Has anyone else experienced this correlation? Thank you.

I had a routine eye test yesterday and apparently I now have cataracts. Another side effect of steroids. Bah. Sorry , just needed a moan.

An ophthalmologist diagnosed me with cataracts in both eyes, recommending surgery starting with the left eye. A second opinion revealed grey spots in the vitreous humor of the left eye, possibly cholesterol crystals or lymphocytes linked to CLL recurrence.

I've now got cataracts and my right eye needs surgery. I'm 39 and most of the information online seems targeted at older patients. Can anyone offer advice? For instance I'm used to wearing glasses for short-sightedness, but understand that the norm would be to be left long-sighted.

Had laser surgery for glaucoma and cataracts about 9years ago. No problems also inserted lenses that meant I no longer needed contact lenses or glasses. Go for it!

Basically told to get new prescription, decide when I feel I need cataracts seen to (?) Things could progress quickly or slowly with ‘my type’ of Cataracts but let them know and return if any changes. He did not refer me to Consultant as said no point with Dry.
