Please read my earlier "Get Your Cataracts Treated" post first and, if it sounds as if you may be having a similar experience, you can use a simple test to see how your eyes compare with other people who don't have cataracts.
The test determines how well you can read very faint type.
It consists of a page with ten rows of random capital letters. Each row has the same letters in the same order, but with increasing contrast from line 1 (extremely faint and no one I know can read it) to line 10 (faint but easy to read for anyone without a cataract.
Most people without cataracts or who have had cataract surgery can read lines 2 or 3. Before my cataract surgery I could only read line 7.
Clearly, you need to test each eye separately.
You need to do the test on a computer screen with good brightness. If possible, have someone (a youngish person?) do the test at the same time, so that you can compare results. The instructions for use of the test are on Part 3 of this post series and the test is on Part 4
Best wishes,
Paul
