Not sure if it's an option with asthma only (I have bronchiectasis and asthma), but saline helps with mucus and inflammation, bit like a trip to the beach 😊.

Hi, I don't know much about meds or saline for nebulisers , just want to wish you well and say that I hope the Fostair MART (I use the MDI/spray type) with a spacer and have found it brilliant for a few years and rarely need ventolin (Salamol now). I only need it during exacerbation &/or infections.

Thank you, i have been told to use only Foster not Salbutamol! Do you take Salbutamol yourself or when you in the hospital with exacerbation/infection?

I use Fostair MART method and I no longer use Salbutamol. It works well for me, but we are all different. MM

I haven't been hospitalised with my asthma thank the asthma lords NHS. I've been told that I shouldn't be ordering a rescue inhaler at all (disgustingly short sited in my opinion). I'm only lucky that I've not had an infection or exacerbation since having since June , particularly because I have no ventolin any more, they've sent Salamol as a replacement for ventolin the last two times I managed to get a rescue inhaler. I've read so many times that Salamol isn't much good when you vitally need it.

hi there Njhs. I’ve got asthma/ bronchiectasis and I use fostairnexthaler. I also use my blue inhaler salamol when necessary though with my latest illness I found the salamol unhelpful and reverted to taking my fostairnexthaler 3 x a day and found that more helpful x

The idea of the MART (maintenance and rescue treatment) is to use your Fostair as both a maintenance inhaler, taking a minimum number of doses every day PLUS additional doses whenever your symptoms flare up. There will be a maximum number of doses in any given day and an asthma plan to advise you on additional action if that maximum number of doses are ineffective.

Reliance on nebulised Ventolin to control asthma is just fire fighting rather than a long term treatment. The aim is to use Fostair so that your need for Ventolin reduces to zero. Talk to your doctor if you're still unsure about your asthma plan.

thank you, i asked him what should i use with the nebuliser because i love it, he said either NaCl just for the sputum and so or Atrovent, didn’t recommend Salbutamol at home just when it’s emergency situation.

Did s/he give you a prescription for NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine)? I hope so. P
