Long term after effects of viral meningitis
I was diagnosed with VM in April 2011. So 8 years later and I still suffer from daily headaches. Some days are easier than others but I go through "spells" where the headaches get really bad for weeks at a time. I also still suffer from extreme fatigue and now have anxiety. I was on Amitriptyline for

B1 Intolerance
My husband has tried taking B1 twice. Firstly with powder then recently with Solgar capsules as recommended. He started on 500mg capsule in the morning then 500mg late afternoon. After 7 days he felt it was making his symptoms worse and had to stop.I read how so many people are benefitting from B1 and

Dystonia and Parkinson's disease: What is the relationship?
Dystonia and Parkinson's disease are closely linked disorders sharing many pathophysiological overlaps. Dystonia can be seen in 30% or more of the patients suffering with PD and sometimes can precede the overt parkinsonism. The response of early dystonia to the introduction of dopamine replacement therapy

Another FUS news. Now from Isreal . Looks like it's replacing DBS
The firm obtained US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its technology in 2016, based on a clinical study of 76 patients, which demonstrated that the treatment is effective and safe. A three-year follow-up of the same group of patients showed that tremor reduction was sustained over a period

PMR and Zostavax vaccine for Shingles
Hi, I know that this topic has been covered before but I thought I would add my own experience of a GP who flatly refuses to believe that there could be any link between my receiving the Zostavax live vaccine for Shingles in September 2018 and my subsequent diagnosis of PMR 6 months later. I have now

Swelling fluid after cranioplasty
Hi I had a cranioplasty (titanium plate) on 19th February. The staples were removed after 10 days and that’s when the problems started! The wounds wouldn’t heal and despite, various steps ( stitches, super glue etc) I was readmitted and then had plastic surgery on 28th March. Things are healing much

'OPERATION LIVE' ON MY 5 CATCHUP.
I watched a fascinating programme on Thursday night this week (channel 5) in which surgery to clip an aneurism was broadcast live from the Royal London hospital. It was a 2 hour op. and showed every detail of the procedure from craniotomy right through to cranioplasty. It's not everyone's choice of viewing

Any advice for returning home after discharge?
Hi All, I am new here. Life changed dramatically 6 months ago when my wife was given days to live after a brain tumour was discovered from a routine CT & MRI scan after my wife fell and hit her head. Now with 1 month to go until my wife returns home for the next stage of building our lives together
