Gum disease link to AFib and Ortner’s syndrome
Dear Community, I know that this may only apply to a small number of people, but even if it just helps one person then it’s worth me sharing! This is my theory, although it was also the opinion of the ENT consultant. Due to covid, I missed dental and hygienist appointments, I then had periodontal disease

A little disheartened!
So I'd rather keep things positive but I suppose I can only be honest! Its 7 weeks since ablation for afib. Before ablation I was symptomatic during afib (shortness of breath, dizzy and palpitations and sweating) but when it self terminated after a while I was generally fine. And could excersise generally

After a cardio version what things should you avoid doing in relation to exercise or every day stuff? To reduce risk of returning to AFib?
Post HA, arrest and a stent ( which put me into continuous AFib) 3 months ago Saw arrhythmia specialist yesterday and will have 1st cardio version in about 4 weeks. I was very fit and used to exercise before this lot. I’m now in slow lane at swimming and get breathless walking to quickly or up a small

Upgraded from paroxysmal afib into pafib…. Deep joy! Update, update!!
After eight straight days of continuous afib and one day in A&E, I converted back to NSR earlier this afternoon! To say I’m relieved would be an understatement but I’m now paranoid about flipping back at anytime. This really is a most horrid condition! My burning question now is, do I carry on taking

Flecainide with Afib and LBBB?
Hello, In a bid to stop me going into Afib my electrophysiologist has stopped my very low dose of bisop for what I think says Diltiazen ER and flecainide 100mg bd. I was previously told by my cardiologist I should not take flecainide due to my LBBB. I did mention this to the EP, who said my heart function

Does anyone have experience of lung problems as a symptom of GCA?
I have had PMR for three years, and am almost off Prednisolone with no return of the original pre-diagnosis symptoms. I have been in hospital twice since the end of July with ‘community acquired pneumonia’ ….tho I have never had any chest/breathing problems/weakness in my life and am still very careful

Vagal Nerve stimulation
Has anyone explored ways of stimulating the vagal nerve as a way of preventing AF as seems to be responsible for possibly the majority of Afib triggers? Wouldn't it be great if just like a pacemaker we could have a vagal nerve implant to give it a jolt when it's thinking of doing it's dirty work!!!

Upgraded from paroxysmal afib into persistent afib…. Deep joy!
Well, following on from my previous post about longest time in afib with pafib. After five days stuck in afib I gave up trying to sit it out and went to A&E hoping they’d zap me out of it, apparently not as I’d waited too long? I was in hospital for 12 hours, 8 of which was spent on a bench in a corridor

Are there any natural supplements really worth taking for AFib? There’s so many claims out there.
Been in permanent AFib since stemi, cardiac arrest and stent fitted 2 months ago. Not obese never smoked exercised hard 4 times a week. Curious about supplements but also curious about medical treatments of cardiac version and ablation as I’m seeing arythmia nurse to discuss options next week. Any info

Paroxysmal Afib, longest episode before seeking help?
I’ve P-Afib and usually get an episode once a month or so usually lasting anywhere between an hour and 24 hours? My GP’s approach is a “pill in pocket” when I feel my heart racing and I take a 1.25mg Bisoprolol tablet which brings my heart rate down a little but obviously does nothing for the irregular

Want to mange this thing!
I had catheter ablation for supraventricular Tachycardia in March and second one in June. Was told 2nd ablation would fix me, as the Electrophysiologist now knew what to do/where to ablate and would use special mapping equipment and higher powered catheters. He ablated SVT site and found a Flutter site

Eliquis
Today I saw a new TV commercial for Eliquis. (Unfortunately we in the USA are bombarded with TV ads for every pharma drug in the universe. 🙄) This commercial was the 1st one that stated that Eliquis is a blood thinner. Not an anticoagulant. A blood thinner. Many on the forum have reiterated at different

Re-introducing caffeine - is it a good idea?
I was diagnosed with PAF about 3-4 years ago and at the time the Consultant Cardiologist suggested that I switch to decaffeinated tea/coffee etc. This I did (rather reluctantly at the time as I do like my cappuccinos! i). At the same time I decided not to drink any alcohol (the most I would drink is

New to Afib. Advice about beta blocker needed
I have just got my medication Nebivolol 2.5mg & was going to start it tonight at 10 pm so if I have side effects I will sleep through them. I woke up this morning and had a frightening Afib episode that wasn’t going. After an hour I decided to take the first beta blocker. Two hours later & the Afib has

Dreaming and Beta Blockers
Below is copied from a Google search. For years, beta-blockers have been known to cause central nervous system (CNS) side effects, such as psychiatric conditions, bizarre and vivid dreams, sleep disturbances, delirium, psychosis, and visual hallucinations [1].22 May 2020 Following my initial PAF diagnosis

From Flecainide and Sotalol to Metoprolol
I have switched from the “plumber” to the “electrician”. He took me off from Flecainide and Sotalol and put me on Metoprolol (25 mg twice a day) and keep having Digoxin through. My energy has improved a bit and, in general, feel much better… I didn’t have the Ablation indicated by my previous cardiologist
