cardiology appointment today and back on anticoagulants.
You may have noticed from my previous posts that I have not been on
anticoagulants
for some time now because my chads were zero but I was still having some AFIB episodes.!!

Just over 4 years since ablation
At 57 and in good shape, I am not taking any
anticoagulants
as my Chad-Vasc score is 1. For anyone considering an ablation, I would highly recommend it.

Are you currently taking
anticoagulants
? Perhaps you are taking a Direct Oral Anticoagulant (DOAC) such as; Apixaban, Edoxaban, Dabigatran, Heparin, Rivaroxaban or even Warfarin? Have you have recently been approached or had your medication changed to an alternative?

NHS black box warnings for anticoagulants…..
I’ve been a member of this forum since 2014 and I can only ever recall seeing two very recent member references to black box warnings for
anticoagulants
in general and Apixaban in particular.

A Recurring theme on this Forum - Should I stop my blood thinner after ablation?
I couldn’t get back on
anticoagulants
fast enough! The ONLY possible? factor in my case was that during my ablation it was noticed that I had “an unusually small and oddly shaped” LA and two co-joined pulmonary veins making it very difficult to ensure full coverage during the ablation.

To start blood thinners or not? Response.
Apologies for referring to blood thinners when I should have used the term
anticoagulants
. Having already reduced my alcohol consumption I cut it out completely 9 weeks ago.

New Blood Thinner for Stroke Prevention
Since many people cannot take conventional
anticoagulants
, the hope is that abelacimab (and other Factor XI inhibitors) will address this pressing need for reducing stroke risk without causing bleeding.

Anticoagulants - Warfarin v NOACs
Recently my EP suggested that maybe I would prefer to be taking NOACs rather than my current anticoagulant Warfarin as it would reduce blood tests. On his recommendation I had a consultation with my GP to discuss this option. I have had 2 occasions in the past 6 years where I have had a serious bleed

Hello and good evening.
Generally, AF patients tend to accept the need to take
Anticoagulants
, especially if their CHADs score is 2 or more however, we do get some interesting debates if scores are less than 2 when comparisons are made between the risk of bleeding and the risk of stroke.

Greetings from an AF sufferer.
Roll on many years of numerous undiagnosed instances of AF I finally got the diagnosis from a consultant in 2022, this led to me having a catheter ablation procedure in March this year and be placed onto
anticoagulants
(Edoxaban).

Bearing in mind I’m on
anticoagulants
I assume I’ll be taken off them for a period of time and post op I will be given some form of pain relief . Given that anything stronger than paracetamol is not advised for AF sufferers will I be at risk of triggering episodes during recovery .

Methotrexate & over heating
I also take a bunch of other drugs including anticonvulsants,
anticoagulants
and steroids. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced feeling so hot, I literally feel like I'm burning up to myself and anyone else.

IV-ICD Lead failure follow up and advice on reducing infection risk #chinkoflight
Drenching in antiseptic is helpful Shaving of hairs should be done with an electronic razor with disposable head not blade shaving ❌
Anticoagulants
should be continued upto procedure date where the patient has a previous stroke record❌ A new antiseptic pocket can be used although too little outcome

change from warfarin to edoxaban.
Just over a month ago my GP recomended Changing
anticoagulants
from warfarin to edoxaban, which I did. This seems to have coincided with me having many more episodes of AF. The episodes are also lasting longer.

Regular care
I was put on
anticoagulants
and referred back to my GP. The local surgery check my meds yearly and I have an annual blood test, but that’s it.
