Ampyra

Has anyone done or tried something besides ampyra that increased the speed that you walk? I've tried ampyra, dysport and I'm still moving like a turtle. My legs still feel very heavy! I'm still hoping to be walking normal again!

I was wondering if anybody with ALD/AMN in the UK was using Dalfampridine (Ampyra) to help with walking? I believe that it was initially an MS drug but it is now being used around the world. As I understand it, it is approved for Wales and Scotland but not for England.

It happened with Ampyra and with lurasidone (a drug for bipolar disorder that was prescribed to me off label for depression). So if a new drug hits me like a ton of bricks, it doesn't mean that it will happen to you.

My physical therapist, who works with a lot of people with MS, suggested Ampyra for motor fatigue and Provigil for the feeing of fatigue. Has anyone been on these meds, one or both? Have they helped with being more active?

I recently posted a question just prior to my neurology visit about my gate being off and got some really good answers however after visiting my neurologist I was put on a medication called ampyra. You have to get it from a specialty pharmacy and my copay is 47$ a month but it is ms specific.

I have been on Ampyra/Dalfampridine for about 4 years. I am thinking of stopping as it is expensive. What effect may it have on my MS? does anyone have any thoughts?

too soon to judge but I’m going to stop Ampyra for @ 1 week, and then retry. I know not everyone responds to Ampyra but I wondered if anyone else had the opposite effect, and had severe lethargy? Thanks! 🙂

She’s prescribing Ampyra. I’m hopeful 🤞 but wondered what others experiences were? What benefits, side effects? Insomnia? Thanks! 😊

Today i forgot to take my ampyra/dalfampridine until the afternoon so i was stiff like a board in the morning. so here i am trying to find the good in life. Feel free to share what you're grateful for.

Anybody have a stash of Ampyra you're not using anymore?

Thank you for my generic Ampyra, that seriously helps me to walk better than before. Thank you for our DMTs and that they're supposed to help us to not progress as quickly with MS. Thank you for simple painkillers. The other night, I had a backache (I must be getting old!)

It was there that I first read about Ampyra as well. But, I digress. It was originally envisaged that sobetirome could be used to stimulate hepatic pathways that lower cholesterol without harmful side effects and might be used in conjunction with statins.

Starting the generic of Ampyra on Monday. GoodRx was a HUGE help in getting the cost very reasonable. For the ones on it, when did you notice any changes?

Who’s tried it and how have the results been?

Last night i forgot my Ampyra and am having trouble getting around inside today. I believe i am having a flare up. Yes, i have an appointment with my neurologist.

I would say it’s always a good idea to check with your neurologist before ever switching the duration. If it says every 12 hours, then their may be a great reason why. Also, I have learned to check data from a website and not to just assume it’s accurate. Thank you so much everyone .

I have been taking Ampyra for about ten years every 12 hours, but I see now by reading an article that it may be optimal to take the medication every 8 hours. Does anyone take this medication like this and do you see benefits?

Does anyone think generic ampyra works just as well for them as name brand?

I’ve taken ampyra 5 days now and when i walked with my husband yesterday and our dogs he (husband) said it looked like my foot was dragging less!! It was still hard to walk right but i started noticing that it was easier to walk without foot drop!
