Amiodarone induced hyperthyroidism
The specialist confirmed hyperthyroidism caused by
amiodarone
. I’m told the treatment can take months to work. Has anyone out there experienced this and if so what was the outcome ? I would love to hear from you.

Can iodine affect thyroid medication test result numbers?
Hi all few days ago I was prescribed a medication for atrial fibrillation, namely
Amiodarone
. It's contains iodine and if I had a thyroid which I don't my thyroid would have to be monitored regularly on this medication. So by having no thyroid I do not need to have regular thyroid checks.

Now bradycardic on Bisoprolol
Therefore he has stopped
amiodarone
and started bisprolol. My resting heart rate used to be in the 70s now it’s in the 40s. I don’t feel my usual self - I am more anxious and stressed. Do you think this is the change in heart rate making me feel unsettled?

Persistent Afib - next stop Amiodorone
Following a short-lived success with cardioversion, my EP has prescribed
Amiodarone
200mg daily. So not a massive dose. The waiting list for ablation is long, so this is a stop gap.

Medication
Another option offered to me is
Amiodarone
. I have reservations about this due to the many side effects. My questions to you all are 1. How likely is it that
Amiodarone
will control my AF? 2.

Do I need to be concerned? UPDATE!
They’ve advised I take
Amiodarone
for a few months to keep the anfib under control until I get the planned ablation.
Amiodarone
eh?!? Hmmmmm. 🙁 I fear that subject will open up another dialogue. When I’ve got the prescription I’ll be discharged later today.

He would treat either by doing an ablation or with
amiodarone
. The thing is my underlying condition is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and I have been told that ablations are less successful with that condition.

Dronedarone(Multaq) and lungfibrosis
My cardiologist suggested I start with Dronedarone four years ago and I was clear in telling him of my reduced lungfunction but he reassured me that there was no risk of my developing lungfibrosis with Multaaq (Dronedarone)as opposed to the original drug
Amiodarone
.

The hospital consultant prescribed
amiodarone
because of arrhythmia/ AF. There is a warning on the box to protect your skin from sunlight because it can cause severe sunburn affect and blistering. also I read that the drug can cause severe side effects.

Flecainide: Worse AFib attack ever after being prescribed at a+e admission
Kept in ACU for 4 days and put on
Amiodarone
which has kept a fib at bay but now got an additional heart problem namely angina which has changed my life more so than afib. Hence I truly believe that the cardiologist should be held accountable for the action she took.

Coming off Amiodarone
After being on
amiodarone
for about 2 years without it having the desired effect of prolonging a cardioversion, my cardiologist has advised, via my GP, that I should stop taking it as of now.

AV Node Ablation
I was disappointed with her attitude, she said that she didn't have a magic wand to wave and what did I expect at 82 (which I thought was very rude) She told me that I had 3 choices - do nothing - take
Amiodarone
(which can cause a lot of problems) or AV Node Ablation.

Amiodarone
Following the cardioversion my EP reluctantly put me on
Amiodarone
with the intent to wean me off in 4-6 months. He started me at 200 mg and after a month cut that back to 100 mg.

amiodarone & peripheral neuropathy
of
amiodarone
through a drip and a further full bag of 900 over 24 hours, which I might add burnt the hell out of my veins. Additionally I now have 200mg/day in tablet. A bit of searching reveals an
amiodarone
side effect of peripheral neuropathy which I think is almost certainly what I have.

Ablation update and reassurances.
I felt worse than ever before but Doc said to take 200mgs
amiodarone
on the 5th and would schedule a cardioversion if I didn't go back into NSR in next couple days. Well, lo and behold, went into NSR on the 6th and been afib free since.

Thyroid dosage for elderly Mom
note thru her my chart regarding her thyroid dosage.. just a little back story.. had iodine ablation a few years ago, (was hyper).. that led to hypo, and was put on synthroid, i think it started at 50, and went as high as 100 as a dosage... at that time she was also on an anti arrhythmia drug called
