Could this be Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome?
Hi, I've just joined today and this is my story. Well, I've always been very bendy. Not to the point of doing the splits - I've never, EVER managed to do that. But my problems started in 2002 when I injured my hip. From that moment on, it would click and snap whenever I moved. I saw an osteopath who

Possible connective tissue disorder - need some help in ordering the right blood test please
My Endo diagnosed me with Hashimoto's 3 weeks ago but she is concerned I have a connective tissue disorder - possibly the mixed type as I have Raynaud's as well as positive Hep2 ANA antibodies (speckled type). I have asked Blue Horizon to give me details about what antibodies they screen for in the

I have a lot of symphony's relating to PBC, itching, joint pain, abdominal pain, vomiting, dry eyes and mouth, fatty and hardening liver.
I asked my rheumatologist for the ANA test (I also have psoriatic arthritis). The test results are border line, any one know what this means? My sister has PBC.

Me again! Help with blood test results please
After waiting 6 weeks I finally got a copy of my blood tests which were taken by a specialist. Unfortunately, I was only sent 1 page when clearly there should be more as three areas have a star highlighting them and it says "continued..." at the bottom of the page. Just wondering if anyone could shed

Professor Hughes December 2013 blog
For us, 2013 ended on a bang – strong winds, heavy rain, widespread flooding. Our small schnauzer, Lucy, has not been keen even to put her toes out of the back door! My apologies for missing two months of blogs. I found that in the UK, the blogs were published on a website called ‘Health Unlocked’

Just needing a moan. Had an awful month. Ended up twice in hospital after a heart attack and had to have an angioplasty and a stent put in.
Plus my bloods came back with a positive ANA and I now have another autoimmune disease to add to my Hashimotos and Coeliac in the form of Lupus. If another doctor had told me that my cholesterol was too high and I had to lose weight I would have screamed. Eventually someone thought to test my thyroid

Does lupus cause very dry skin?
hello - I have APS and pernicious anaemia. I have a positive ANA and St T's say I have lupus like symptoms associated with the APS but full blown lupus is not evident at the moment. I start Plaquenil in the new year (my specialist recommends introducing new drugs one at a time as I am on warfarin) I

Hi everyone, I am a 22 year old woman living in Boston. I have had reynauds since I was about 12 or so. I always thought this condition was a little worrisome, but I never thought about it too much. At a very young age I also noticed spider angiomas appearing on my hands (about 4 or 5 of them have come

Should I insist on a referral to investigate sle?
Will try to cut this short. My son was born with what the health visitor described as "baby acne" (apparently common amongst boys). It became infected and needed antibiotic ointment. He was always sicky. Had a huge inflamed belly button which eventually went down. At 1yr old he developed a rash on one

A positive ANA
Hello - this is my first post here. I was diagnosed with Hughes Syndrome in April. The blood tests also indicated a positive ANA. My Consultant wanted me to be seen at St Thomas' for the Hughes but said the positive ANA "was nothing". St T's also found that I have Pernicious Anaemia so life long B12

Are my swollen, red, puffy eyes a symptom of autoimmune hepatitis?
Hi all. I was seen by a gastroenterologist in July following a 'hepatic episode' of deranged LFT's, mild jaundice and a significantly positive ANA. This episode had settled by the time i was seen but the consultant said she was almost certain that this was an indicator of autoimmune hepatitis. She did

My appointment at St Thomas'
Yesterday I went to St T's. They have taken a load of blood tests. I asked if the antibeta2glycoprotein was negative this time would I lose my APS diagnosis - it seems that that depends on my consultant up here. I think he goes along with one positive test means you have it - I hope - I would hate to

First lupus clinic visit, what to expect?
Hi all. I have a baffling range of symptoms over the past three years. Lots of tiredness, joint pain, arthritis, infections and a climbing positive ANA. I saw a rheumie a year ago who just said had lot of osteoarthritis and do physio and painkillers. Things have got worse and I am going to a different

Newly diagnosed with Lupus and learning to spot the signs of a flare up
I was recently diagnosed through a positive ana result and still waiting to see a rheumatologist. I have had symptoms that started with extreme chronic fatigue, which initially GP put down to PBC(liver) and/or hypothyroidism, which I have both but he hadn't linked all the little things that had been

Does rosacea affect the scalp too?
I have had a red flush across my face for some time but it is a flat rash (was investigated for Lupus after a positive ANA but all other tests came back negative). Now though I have had angry red bumps (they have no head so not spots as such) come up on my face and head. They come up and then flatten

Technical question: 3 years of positive antinuclear antibodies gone. Why? A few months ago showed a titre of 1:1100. New GP & test negative!
I have had 3 years of ANA positive results correlating with systemic sclerosis. This has been rising in titre every year since my first rheumatology investigation for various aches and pains. (I was ENA negative and I only have a touch of Raynauds). I don't understand why I am now testing ANA negative
