Asthma triggers
I find milk seems to aggravate my asthma. I cannot have cereal with milk or even soya milk as it makes me cough more and I can easily be sick. I know this is not a pleasant subject, but does anyone else find this to? I have given up eating yogurts, even ice cream. I also have Hayfever and eczema. What

New to this forum but needing advice
Hi I have had asthma since I was 10 and now 24 years later I very rarely have any problems now, however my 7 year old son has just been diagnosed after a bit of pushing. I took him about a cough he had for 6 months and was told to take a couple of puffs a night with a reliever I went back last week

Medic alert
At what point should I be considering get medic alert id? Not having great bucketfuls of cash hanging around and with my treatment undergoing changes all the time to try and stabilise my asthma, I don't want to get one to find that it soon needs changing. I have a lot of allergies and use epipens as

Books
Hi there, As you know I'm fairly new to all this and I thought I would read all I could about asthma and allergies. Having admitted to myself that I've probably had these for a very long time, and that I need to identify causes and triggers and try and reduce them as much as possible - i.e. in diet

Allergy Could Go Away With Vitamin D
An allergy to common mould that often attacks patients with Cystic Fibrosis, or worsen asthma symptoms could be treated therapeutically with Vitamin D, claims a research study. Dr. Jay Kolls, Professor and Chair of Genetics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, and colleagues wanted to identify

out of control hayfever
At the moment i am having major problems with the pollen ,and cant seem to control my symptoms despite being on a range of meds. I currently use desloratidine, piriton, opticrom and saline nose spray specifically for hayfever, but despite these meds as well as my usual asthma meds things are not controlled

pregnancy and peanuts
i don't know if anyone can help me. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and read somewhere that if you have a history of asthma, hay fever, ezcema, allergies (which i do) you should avoid peanuts in pregnancy in case it increases the risk of your unborn child having these conditions. However, then I went

Flu vaccine and possible egg allergy
Hi all, I'm a newbie but have browsed the boards for some time and found loads of useful information, so am very grateful for that. However, I have a question I can't seem to find any posts about. I went for my annual asthma review at my new practice a couple of weeks ago and the asthma nurse asked

I was having a bad cold and one night nose got totally blocked . I panicked and visited the ER they put in some drops and I was fine . I visited a ENT and she looked in my nose and said I had Nasal Polyps and this is related to my asthma and allergy . She directly adviced surgery even before trying to

Anti-Allergy Pillows etc.
Is there any evidence to suggest that anti-allergy bedding actually helps with asthma at night? I've had allergy testing and dust/dust-mites aren't a problem but I'm getting really fed up with the occasional nurse/hospital consultant I come across who can be quite dismissive and suggest I just change

An asthma and allergy question!
I am interested in other people's opinion on this subject (not sure anyone will have the definite answer). I have always thought that after a severe allergic reaction/anaphylactic reaction that your lungs are 'twitchy' for quite a while and you react much worse to things. However, yesterday I went

Do I have asthma? Help please.
I have suffered with allergic rhinitis and the usual allergies (pets, dust mites, chemical products) since I was 5-6 (I'm 31 now). In the last few years I have been having flu-like symptoms where my heart races, my throat swells and I can't swallow, I feel weak and achey, I struggle for breath, am hot

Food/drink helping asthma?
Hi guys, I just wondered if any of you had ever found that food or drink improves asthma symptoms (or makes them worse?). I'm not talking about allergies here. My GP told me to avoid cooking with chilli/spices/garlic and other strongly scented or flavoured foods as it will irritate my airways. I

Headaches
Ever since last week when it started getting really warm here in the london area i have been getting headaches almost every day. They are not bad, but they are still really annoying. I eat properly and drink lots of water. Could it be allergies? I dont really know when allergy season starts here in england
