Advice on ACTH and thyroid results please
I had a '2nd opinion' visit to an NHS endo on 24/8/22. I specifically asked the endo to comprehensively test my pituitary function, as I think that's where my problems are located (low thyroid and cortisol). She did a lot of blood tests and an ACTH test. After a fair bit of chasing up I've now been copied

Has anybody noticed activation of HPA axis with liothyronine use ?
While adding T3 to a substitution mix after TT, soon after (6 years ago) had an extensive test battery that brought back an increased ACTH, with higher but still normally ranged blood cortisol. Also, the substitution mixed kept my TSH supressed, but FT3 within limits, though in the upper side of the

2nd Short Synacthen Test Today - amazing post treatment
During my on-going quest to establish what the hell is causing me to feel so crap, so often, I managed to secure a '2nd opinion' from another NHS endo. The appointment was this morning and pre appointment I made sure she received ALL the info on what's been going on over the past 3/4 years. She's still

Need help with diagnosis
Hello I joined here as I have all the symptoms of a thyroid/pituitary problem and feel like it is being ignored by the endocrinologist I was sent to on the NHS. My latest blood tests are; TSH 1.06 (0.27-4.2mIU/L) FT4 14.5 (12-22pmol/L) Total T3 0.9 (1.3-3.1 nmol/l). My igf-1 was also low at 9 (10-38)

Short Synacthen Test
I asked my endo’s secretary to send a copy of above test results as I was advised by someone on here that it should have an ACTH test. I received the results this morning and ACTH wasn’t tested. My baseline cortisol was 342nmol - does that mean that my ACTH is ok? Any help appreciated.

Chronically fatigued 18 year old daughter - trying to make sense of her blood test results
Hi, I have an 18 year old daughter who is suffering from chronic fatigue (amongst other symptoms such as very low immunity, acne and awful constipation/stomach problems, hair loss and elevated LDL cholesterol). She's currently so ill that she's had to withdraw from her A levels and sadly won't be able

Lung function tests: help interpreting what it means
I don't really know what my tests mean, apart from being pretty good overall. This was on Seretide (ICS + LABA) , at a dose that totally suppressed my ACTH and adrenals, but it has been a wonderful medicine for my asthma. I have been reducing the dose a lot since the lung test. FEV1 - 114% FEV1/

Adrenal Insufficiency - it is possible to recover with severe asthma?
So it was confirmed that I have secondary adrenal insufficiency the other week. They did also look at Primary but my blood results have shown that it is down to the steriods taken for my asthma. My cortisol level was again below 28 and unreadable but surprisingly my ACTH came back at 49. Renin was high
