Hashimotos waiting on consultant endocrinologist follow up appt
Eventually the doctor referred me to a specialist where they have now tested my tsh t4 t3 follate ferritin vitd b12 and
acth
test for my adrenal glands. I'm just hoping I get something from these blood tests to prove that is why I feel absolutely crap all the time.

The Lighter Side of PMR: ‘Dear Marje..’ - Suggested Blockbuster Letter Template to a Busy GP Practice Manager ;-)
DT (whilst scanning my shopping list like a laser with a barcode, and with increasing urgency in her now, menacing voice): “Ok, so you want regular blood tests AND an
ACTH
test?! You don’t need them as your ESR is only ‘2’. I’ll re-consider things if you are Symptomatic.

Help please! Adrenal fatigue?!? Addison?!?
two months ago I've found
ACTH
(and Ferritin) marginally over max limit while blood cortisol normal. Salivary cortisol was normal, though on the low side for the day Urinary cortisol 24h average was normal, so is blood cortisol taken this week but
ACTH
increased even more. What could this be?

Want to self-inject but no GP referral
Diagnosed with ME 16 yrs ago and
ACTH
deficiency a year ago. Is it possible to self inject just to see if it works, or is it too risky?

Secondary Adrenal insufficiency
I have been told I have adrenal insufficiency due to long term use of steroids for another illness, I have had 3
ACTH
tests my last test showed a result of 116 although I'm not sure if I have read it right ? I go back to see professor Chatergee but not until the end of Aug.

Hydrocortisone
he has ruled out Addisons as no antibodys and my
ACTH
was ok i think. I am a bit nervous of jumping onto the HC and wondered if anyone else has had any luck with the adrenal glandulars?

The Lighter Side: Appointment with New GP - Am I Losing the Plot / Is it Me?! :-/ One for the Aunties, maybe? ;-)
Also, I have struggled to get down to a low dose of preds (now 4mgpd), and I understand that a Synacthen (
ACTH
) test is advisable at these levels after a long period on steroids, to check Adrenal function. Can I arrange one please?'.

Adrenal situation grim?
(e.g. too much t4 or T3 blocks adrenal output...it's just an example) What scares the shit out of me is the increasing
ACTH
! Might this be from too intensive exercising? (though I did much more intensive exercising and never
ACTH
was above max.) Might be the stress?

New blood work thyroid antibodies up
I finally had the cortisol and
acth
levels done they were normal.
ACTH
was 6 and cortisol was 12. No ranges given for them. I had it done in the afternoon because I just can't get up early enough for anything Like that anymore. I'm too exhausted and it messes up my blood sugar for the whole day.

High ACTH levels despite steroid replacement
He replied tersely, saying that I shouldn't worry about that, and that my HC dosage needed to be as high as necessary to bring down my
ACTH
levels. The implication was that a high
ACTH
could kill a person with adrenal insufficiency.

Raised thyroid antibodies
Endo also did synacthen test,
ACTH
test too. I had a private saliva cortisol test which showed low levels of cortisol throughout the day which the dr said suggested stage 3 adrenal insufficiency- obviously the NHS endo has scrapped that theory!

Adrenal insufficiency
I've just got back a blood cortisol and DHEA test (the
ACTH
I had done was botched and arrived at lab unfrozen, so having that repeated next week): Morning cortisol (blood) 161 nmol (166-507) DHEAS. 2.2. umol (0.7-12.5 ) BH gp said this was a little low and suggested further testing.
