I don't remember now exactly, either 6 months or a year. I think 6 months. We had to give our license in for that time

Hi - I was advised 6 months but tbh did not feel comfortable driving until about 8 months later. I was advised not to inform DVLA as they take your licence and it is a real admin pain getting them to re-instate it - that advice was from a specialist at the hospital!

There seems to be so much conflicting advice for driving post surgery. Your license is not automatically required to give in. (Uk). That is stated. You only need to stop driving if you suffer with sudden bursts of dizziness..understandably. Otherwise around 3/4 weeks is endorsed as safe to drive providing confidence is there and other issues around complications are resolved. I had complications which prevented a normal time span recovery but this criteria had been my aim. A return to normality or new normal I've come to realise is paramount. There can be a tendency to be over cautious on just about everything..which can hinder recovery.

Around 6 months. Though if you have seizures before/ post surgery you have to be 1 year clear of seizures prior to having your license back. You have to revoke your license, as I was told by me Consultant Neurologist and getting it back can be a long process. I love the independence of driving again, but can only drive an automatic due to left sided weakness as a result of treatment. Take care 😊

Automatic is a great choice and that something I will consider. My surgery is in 3 weeks.

Can anyone send the link here for where to inform dvla? Finding it hard to find where we're meant to inform them
